Classic composition with nice tones, done with a traditional technique, that is classic b&w film and a no-frills manual camera, even if the final output is digital.
This image proves that dedication and use of simple tools, but yet powerful, can yield great results with a natural look.
An image is the subject and the way it is captured, a capture that should reflect the subject itself: a natural subject represented in natural way.
No special effects, no special lenses are needed for nature.

I like that the image is pleasant even if the weather wasn't sunny. That requires some b&w knowledge.

Thanks.  The far trickier set was a couple weeks later at Taughannock Falls on a brilliantly sunny day.

This is a fine black and white photo, but better yet what the Argus C3 was designed for, a great photo on a budget with full control and no frills. As one who intimately understands the camera and who can work within the designer's restrictions Pearwood has made the difficult appear easy.

Composition is pleasant and the darken areas lead us to the people crossing the bridge. This camera was meant to record as a journalist sees but people and friends were part of the camera's purpose as well and in this case both were taken care of. WWII veterans would agree Steve has done an excellent job with his C3.

You have captured fine details with a correct exposure Steve. Eye follows nicely the beach curvature on the left side to the right over the bridge. Well done again!

Thanks, Esa.  I have a 12x18 canvas print of this one hanging in the living room.

Are those hobbits and dwarves on the bridge? No trolls about?
This is indeed a fine image. You are, I think, getting to be fully recuperated after a rather rough half year. It shows in your ability to see.

The trolls and such were several months ago; they are largely vanquished, though not completely.  It has been a rough year.

Glad they are at bay.
We won't reach home in this world - be strong.
And take good photos.

It's a gorgeous place, a long skinny park along the Genesee River gorge.  If you ever get to the US, put it on your must-see list.

Definitly, Steve.  I checked where it is located.  By the way, you are really a master with this Argus camera. The quality of these captures is amazing!

Thanks, Mark.  It looks almost silly sitting on top of a big, heavy tripod with a shutter release cable dangling, but it makes a huge difference.

The result certainly justifies these measures  Your photos got me hooked on the Argus, by the way.  I think I'll hover over some offerings at the bay and see what comes out.  This is a very interesting camera, seems to be overlooked quite a bit.

It's the camera that sealed the deal for the 135 "35mm in a can" format.  It had a very long production run so current prices are pretty low.

Interesting, Steven.  The Argus is not known here and I found none on the german market.  But I bought one now from the US for a almost rediculous price (the shipping was more than double!).  I see that one even can interchange lenses, that's a nice feature not many rangefinders have. Downloaded a manual and study it now.  I hope the camera is technically OK.  It looked mint on the photos.

I didn't realize until I went prowling yesterday that you could get other lenses.  Let the bidding begin.
