Description Work, jobs and everything else
Something to occupy the brain
A constant flow of ideas, thoughts
The mechanics of the sane

A thin shadow steals the light
All work makes a curious end
The shadow bloats and bubbles
In new shape it tries to stand

Darkness peers over the work
Shielding all progress from the light
The shadow takes form and structure
A strange yet natural sight

An eye and a nose both emerge
Subtle yet prominent and clear
The shadow studies all the work
And then forms itself an ear

It listens yet hears nothing
It raises a hand but must stop
The hand falls flat against cold glass
Trapped all sides, bottom to top

Colour drifts into the shade
To solid flesh, a blushing face
A face belonging not to me
But one distant in my place

I don’t see myself within-
That mirror, not my head or body
But beautiful eyes that cannot see mine
Because they see right through me

This sounded so much like the formation of a child in the womb, then the end twist threw me off completely. Nice work.

Thankies! I'd never thought about that before, though I can see it now too.
