Description
This work explores guilt for having made the wrong decision,
whether for the harm it causes to us or for harm to another,
and also, guilt when we feel that another's harm is deserved.
Self-flagellation is cruel (what the play seeks to communicate),
and one can torture oneself more than one deserves.
The title refers to the illusion that our most recent mistake
is going to be our last, but there is always a new stumbling block to trip over.
Each nail is a mistake that perhaps is not, but the subject cannot
see beyond his present and the trail of bloody footprints he left on the road.
Eventually, the hurt person will find the reward for his or her sorrows,
and will wonder why it was necessary to drive so many nails into them.
