Description "Fan Art - Inferno (1980)"

Yes, this fan art phase of mine seems to show no signs of slowing down at the moment. Anyway, this digitally-edited painting is based on Dario Argento's 1980 horror film "Inferno".

Whilst this film is my least-favourite one in Argento's "Three Mothers" trilogy, it's still a reasonably decent '80s horror movie on its own merits. Not only does it keep some of the seriously cool-looking lighting design from "Suspiria" (1977), but it also includes some gloriously weird set-pieces and, like in the opening chapters of an old 1980s splatterpunk novel, it keeps you guessing about who will turn out to be the main character.

It certainly isn't a "bad" film, but it's less focused and less scary than "Suspiria" (1977) and, despite its best efforts, it doesn't reach the sheer level of gloriously over-the-top splatterpunk melodrama of "Mother Of Tears" (2007). Even so, I'm still glad that I watched it

As for this painting, despite my best efforts - both traditional and digital - I still couldn't quite get the amazing shade of red used in the lighting in this scene. I also messed up the shadows slightly and used a tiny amount of artistic licence as well (eg: framing, colour temperature etc..). Still, despite these flaws, it was fun to paint
