Description
Good day, Noir here! Today I will be revealing the first of the three main Pokemon lines used by our first "gym leader" of the region, Noel! Rather than being a conventional gym leader, Noel is actually competing against you to represent Tasmania in the region-wide Gym Challenge!
Please welcome his ace Pokemon, based on the many seals that inhabit the Antarctic Circle!
As always, I hope you enjoyed my content. Leave a comment if it suits you, and I hope to see you again soon!

DESIGN & CONCEPT
--------------------------
These Pokemon are primarily based on various pinnipeds that live in the Antarctic circumpolar region, including: the Antarctic fur seal, the crabeater seal, the leopard seal, and the brown fur seal. Other inspirations include the various meteorological phenomena in Tasmania including blizzards and auroras.
The abstract theme for these Pokemon is psychics, mystics, and fortune tellers. Whether it be an amusement fair contraption that give randomizes a fortune, a self-employed specialist in cold reading, or oracles of Delphi who hallucinated from fumes produced within their temple: the history of fortune telling is long and colorful.
TUBBYTHICK: A common sight in the beaches of the Southern Island, this Pokemon are typically most numerous during breeding seasons of late autumn. A distant cousin to Spheal, it similarly has trouble swimming in open water. Instead, it spends most of its time on land, waiting for its parents to return with its next meal. It has a peculiar gait, having to rock their body back and forth while their tail propels them forward. Older Tubbythicks will collect chunks of never-melt-ice, polishing them into 'pearls;' these pearls are believed to act as a focus for their psionic powers. This Pokemon is largely based on the crabeater seal (Lobodon carcinophaga), one of the seals native to the southern circumpolar region which feeds on the large swarms of Antarctic krill. This Pokemon's rounded appearance, gregarious behavior, and familiarity with humans are taken wholesale from these wonderful animals. The general shape of this Pokemon is that of a cupcake: complete with icing and a cherry topping. Coloration for this Pokemon reflects its typing, with white snow overlaid on light blue permafrost. Overall, this Pokemon's abstract theme is that of the fortune teller, who pulls meaning from various objects such as palm lines, tea leaves, bones, stones, cards and even internal organs.
PINNINSTREL: More ferocious than their outward appearance might tell you, this Pokemon is an extremely efficient hunter in the water. Using strange synthesizer-like calls and psychic distortions, it can 'herd' their prey into following it. While its prey is preoccupied, it will coordinate rapid takedown maneuvers with the rest of its group, ripping its prey to shreds: earning it the nickname of the "Grim Pied Piper." Despite its viciousness, this Pokemon surprisingly curious and friendly towards humans, perhaps understanding humans protect its cubs. The design for this Pokemon is a combination of the brown fur seal and the leopard seal: two very common seals in the southern seas which are equal parts cute and curious, but violent and deadly. It should always be noted that seals are wild animals: if encountered, please treat them with respect and care. Its spotted pattern is taken from the leopard seal's spots, as well as to signify blizzards common in its habitat. Like its pre-evolution, it is partly based on a dessert: in this case, layer cake. Likewise with the coloration, it is meant to double as the colors of the aurora as well as the layers of the cake, with the white and light blue persisting. Thematically, this Pokemon represents the ancient mystics and oracles: declaring (often self-fulfilling) prophecies of large-scale changes to the balance of power in the region.

NAMES
----------
Tubbythick is named from the words 'tubby,' i.e. chubby or stout; and 'thick,' referring to its thick layer of protective fat. It can also be seen as a corruption of the term "dummy thick."
Pinninstrel is a combination of the words 'pinniped,' the taxanomical group which includes seals and sea lions; and 'minstrel,' an archaic term for a musician/singer (i.e. bard), a reference to the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
---------------------------
EVOLUTION METHOD
---------------------------
Tubbythick is the unevolved form of this evolution line.
Pinninstrel evolves from Tubbythick starting from Lv 35.
