Description Two centuries after the nuclear war, the Highway King AtomiGlide continues to roam the broken interstates of America, popular for it's speed, ruggedness, and eminent salvagability; an enterprising individual can roll one to a workbench without any assistance, and parts are everywhere. Bikes can be converted to run on a number of available power sources - fusion batteries, microfusion cells, or a variety of combustible chemicals, with varying reliability.

The Brotherhood of Steel use bikes to give their scouts extra mobility - the power armored Paladins that make up their main strength are individually too big and heavy to ride a motorcycle. The recon-armored scouts ride to the edge of their infiltration area, and then proceed quietly on foot, hiding the bike carefully under camo netting in an out of the way spot. The bike shown here has a stowed AER9 laser rifle, with additional equipment in a metal ammo box.

The NCR uses motorcycles in much the same way; bikes carry rangers and scout snipers to the edge of the operational area, where they'll infiltrate, set up and OP, and observe and report enemy movement, call in artillery or air support, or engage targets on their own. The bike shown here, like the BOS bike, is an ex-military model (or built based on one); stowage includes a custom scout sniper rifle. The insignia is from the NCR Army's elite 1st recon.

Largely avoiding advanced technology, Caesar's Legion nonetheless uses motorcycles for their elite shock cavalry; they are faster, stronger, and more durable than whatever the mutant horse of the fallout world is, and don't panic under fire. Heavily armored cataphracts, riding shoulder to shoulder can deliver a devastating charge with their thermic lances, and then run down their routing enemies, who, usually lacking motorized transport of their own, stand no chance of escape. The bike shown here mounts a combination vexilus/trophy rack as well as the equites' secondary weapons, a gladius machete and throwing spears. The primary weapon, usually a thermic lance, would have to be used while riding, and therefore wouldn't be stowed.

Enjoy,

Idea: When the Legion can't find a Horse (Or the mutant equivalent) they tie a couple of bikes to the from of their chariots, hooked to the handle and such.

The Legion bike is awesome and far more practical than motor-chariot from Van Buren.

I remember when Van Buren was in the works - I'd played through Fallout 1 and 2 and loved them both, so I was looking forward to more, but what finally leaked for VB was a strange mix of really good ideas and really questionable ones, and the car engine chariot was pretty questionable.

Too be fair, it was a very rough draft. The refined product is essentially Fallout New Vegas, which is pretty awesome (when it isn't crashing).

It would have been cool if we could do motor-chariot race in the Legion territories... but I suppose it is impossible with the New Vegas.

The game engine allows for it, but the maps in the 3D fallout games aren't designed for vehicles. The developers want you to explore the world on foot for whatever reason, so it's implied that some of the trucks or bikes are usable, but impossible in the normal game.

It's really too bad, because a Fallout/Mad Max hybrid would be pretty awesome.

Probably not Fury Road, but Road Warrior and Thunderdome could fit in.

I was thinking of that open world Mad Max game that came out in 2015 - it had a great vehicle customizing system, but it sounded like it was overly repetitive and maybe fell down at the story end (I don't really know, I didn't play it. It's only $6 on Steam now, which should tell you something).

But really what would be cool is a Fallout game set in the Fallout setting, where you have an armed 50's retro future death car that you slowly build up along with your character. The world would necessarily have to be much more open and empty - more like Fallout 1 and 2, with towns separated by miles of open, driveable terrain.

So, Fallout: North Commonwealth, set in Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming Wastes?

It needs to be where there would be a lot of wrecked cars to salvage, I'd say Southern California, but set between Fallout 1 and 2 (there have to be enough that you have motorized raiders, which means working cars can't be all that rare). Dakota/Wyoming/Montana would make a good sci-fi western style Fallout like New Vegas or the original 2; more wilderness than ruins, since they're pretty empty compared to other states.

Hey, are you going to do any vehicle concepts for Fallout 4?

Probably, although right now Fallout 4 is the only Fallout I haven't played yet, so I'll want to wade in and get a feel for things before I do. The next set is going to be Fallout 1, I got started on them and then got sidetracked.

These are, again, awesome! I can see Mojave Exspress having a few to help their Couriers along.

Awesome. The only other faction I can think that would really benefit from one of these would be the Great Khan's. Right up their alley.

Ooh. The 3 Families should be interested, especially the Chairmen(my favorite family). And the Kings and Followers(favorite group in the game, tied with House).

My plan is to group them by game, so the Great Khans will be back with another New Vegas group. I'm also thinking of doing bikes for the Jackals, Vipers, Fiends, Kings, NCR Rangers, Followers, and possibly the Casino families. Lots of options, really, but for sure the Khans will be there; they are modeled on bikers after all.

This stuff is awesome, as usual. I'm especially blown-back by the little histories you've given for each bike.

I wouldn't think fanfictions or the likes are really your thing, but have you thought of writing a short story in the Fallout universe or your own universe like the series? I've always enjoyed Oracle Sword series, though, I know you never could get to much time to work on it. I think it would be cool to read some post-apocalyptic adventures with fun characters like the Penguin crew or some busty babes like them.

Or don't. You never disappoint me with your work, it's all great
