Description Something I wanted to do ever since I read 'Fallen' by Lauren Kate about a week ago. I didn't actually like the book that much, but this image wouldn't go away, so I drew this today.

I must say I don't usually use pencil, much less cross-hatching in my art, so I don't know what possessed me to use it for this picture. But, like I said, it was just an image that had to be done

One of the things I did want to achieve with this was realistic wings (or at least anatomically correct ones). Even then I still think I got my secondaries wrong on this >.< It's a pet peeve of mine when I see wings that are so anatomically wrong it's not even funny. Stylised wings are a little bit better, less smack my head in frustration type thing, but an artwork is absolutely ruined for me if the wings just aren't right.

6 hrs, f and 2b pencils

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they would work out, they looked like scales when I was sketching. But they look like feathers now, so I'm happy

Well, they claim feathers evolved from scales. xD
I think the easiest way to make them stand apart though, is to add lines going out from the middle of the feather. as those are more unique.
