At last! We get a clear image of his eyes which were said to have been a slate gray coloring. While a very attractive man, it was his large, haunted eyes which stood out, and you have captured them remarkably well. I love the rough, sketchy quality you've assigned to all but his features, which here are delicately done without excessive shading, letting the white of the paper pronounce the stark contrast between black and white. His hair, eyebrows, and mustache are nicely textured. His neck cloth is skillfully drawn: the quick penciling simulates folds which in life may not have been so fastidiously applied. The downward lines of his coat are in slight contrast to the equally dark, but curved lines of his hair. An excellent rendition of Mr. Poe.
