Description Equipment: Canon T3i + Tamron 90mm Macro lens.

For this shot, I fully extended to 1:1 at 90mm so that I could capture the magnification of the nerds as well as the boundaries of the drops themselves. Because my lens has such a narrow point of focus, I often had to choose between focusing on the nerds reflected in the water drops (thus blurring out the rest of the drop with just the highest point of the surface in focus) or on the drops in totality (and thus losing the magnification effect of the nerds). This shot was an attempt to reconcile them and out of the several shots I took of this particular setup, this one was my favorite.

I haven't quite tried anything like this series before and would greatly appreciate feedback. If you would like to get a better understanding of what the rest of this series was like, please check out the thumbs below and take a look in my gallery where there are even more photos from this shoot that are not pictured here.

Post-processing is very minor as is with all my photographs. I use LightRoom3 to do basic corrections like exposure, contrast, and cropping. I don't have a more advanced program for serious photoshopping. Personally, I prefer maintaining the photograph's original integrity as much as possible. Since I am limited with what I can do post-shoot, I spend a lot of time setting up the shots and using lights and filters and all manual settings on my Canon to get the desired effects. What you see here is truly faithful color straight from the camera.
