Description
This is my Cinderella. Though not actually from this, she was inspired in part from Gregory Maguire's novel 'Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister' which tells the Cinderella story from the viewpoint of one of the stepsisters. Cinderella, in that story is somewhat fragile and isolates herself in her home. It's a very different telling of the Cinderella story, without magic or fairy godmother type stuff. The gold shoe is a nod to the Cinderella story in my copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales. No glass slipper, but instead the gold shoe. The birds do help Cinderella in that story as well. The mice are included as a nod to Disney's Cinderella. The window is a nod to Waterhouse and other painters of his time.

This painting took many, many hours, especially the cloth and the dress, but was fun to do. I love doing folds in cloth. There is no photomanipulation in this. All painted using Photoshop LE and a Wacom Graphire 3 Tablet. Nearly all of it done with the airbrush.

The reference for the girl is from =AttempteStock . Really great stock there. I will definitely use more of her stuff.
The reference used to the dove and birds in the background is from ~sadestock .
