It's been a while since I did fanart on this series, and thought would be a good time to draw these two from it.

So for those who watched me after 2015, these characters are from a show called "Mighty Cat Masked Niyander", the other show that Anpanman author Takashi Yanase. Like that show, it deals with a young superhero trying to defend his people from evil forces, except with more anthropomorphic animals (which is weird since that show already has talking animals). I watched some of the episodes and while it's enjoyable, I still prefer Anpanman over this. Oh sure, it's not good as there's only about 80 episodes compare to Anpanman's over 1000 episodes, and the fact that it's the older IP. But the thing is that I like the character dynamics from Anpanman more, just trying to mix certain characters that hardly interacted.

Anyway, these two characters are Nyaon and Con (Wikipedia says it's Niyon, but I'm sticking with what translator says, plus it's more of a pun on his species), the not-Baikinman and Dokinchan of the series. Why I said that? Well, that's because they aren't really bad guys. Unlike Baikinman where he just wants to pick on others, Nyaon is more of a green-eyed monster, as he's jealous that Masked Niyander gets all the attention and he doesn't. A majority of his episodes deal with him trying to gain his fame to get attention, though he always fail. Con is the little fox who tries to support Nyaon, and she's probably one of the cuter characters in the show! X3

And yes, despite his appearance, Nyaon is a cat. Reason why doesn't look like one is because you see his hair on his head? That's actually his ears combed, as there was an episode that explains it.

So why did I got back into the show? Well, you can thank Chickie456 with her Gattu Battu obsession, as I was researching Nick India and found out that they actually aired the show there sometime after it ended in Japan. It turns out there was an English dub of this show, unlike Anpanman. The dubbing is, rather a mix bag. Much like Yo-kai Watch Dragon Ball Z, the dubbing is done similar to the Hong Kong dubs of the Japanese Transformers series from the late 80s/early 90s.

It's not too bad as the voice acting sounds somewhat close to the voices from the original (which is kinda rare), but I kinda like it if was done by a professional company. The good thing about that upload is that it's perfect quality unlike the other uploads I saw on YT, so at least got the right color palette for these two as the washed out VHS quality is hard to figure.
