Description

So it's National Chewing Gum Day, and I thought on drawing out Violet Beauregarde from the 2005 adaptation of "Charlie and the Charlie Factory".

I first heard about the 1971 movie "Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory" back when I was 4/5 when I used to see clips from the trailers I used to see from the various home videos Warner Bros released. I did first watched it as a young kid at one of my cousins' places, but we stopped watching it within the first few minutes as I was very hyperactive and was bored at the opening. I would later get a proper chance to watch the movie a few years later during the last month of school when my 5th grade class played that movie and eventually liked it more than when I was 5/6. That was actually around the time the 2005 movie was gonna be in theaters, so it was either my teacher's choice because of that, or it was just coincidence.

I would later watch the 2005 Tim Burton version later that year once it was on home video and like with the 1971 movie, saw it in bits at middle school and thought it was a fun movie. So before any of you ask, I like both movies for their quirks.

I decided to draw the 2005 version of Violet Beauregarde for a few reasons. 1. Kinda underrated. 2. I wanted to draw something simple, and while I don't have anything against the 1971 version, I just don't want to deal with the hair details. 3. The 2005 is more brash, and wanted to draw her looking like she wants to compete. 4. I bought a movie at a Goodwill that had her actress which came out the same time.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory belongs to Roald Dahl (c)
