Description Why must a poet
Think deeply
And show
Great wisdom
In all of their works?

It is assumed that
Even if a poet is
Writing about
His/her moldy sandwich,
Or a freckle on a
Friend's hand,
something profound
will appear from
in between the words.

But we all know what happens,
when you assume,
Right?

For example,
if I want to write
about how you can
never ever get the
last drop of
Arizona's Raspberry Iced Tea
out of a 460 ml can¦
is it required
that I have
to include how
that symbolizes
the greedy want of a humans,
just so all the other
caffeine-addicted critics
can bob their heads
and say,
"Whoa" and
"Totally Deep" and
"Niice!"?

well,
WHAT IF I
DON'T WANT TO BE DEEP!!!!

Sure it's nice to be considered
an intellectual,
But what if
I just happen to enjoy
my stupid moments?

But what if,
I enjoy being human
along w/ all
the other mortals?

What happens if I
Don't know all the
Answers?

What if I enjoy
writing poems,
that express my joy
in my fuzzy blue
bath mat,
w/out any hidden meanings?

And since I'm
running out of steam
I figure I should close this
rant/poem/declaration
with something that fits
my wild weird way.
Maybe afterwards people will think
"What the hell was that?!"
and maybe one of my friends
or perhaps a random stranger
will say,
"WTF, mate?"

And I will say,
"That was a rant,
a declaration of what I feel.
And if you didn't get it,
that's okay,
'cause neither did I"

hilarious but all too true ^^ damn us humans and our constantly futile search for "meaning"...

Anyway, the meaning of
Life
The Universe
and
Everything
is....

*puts scores of philosophers out of a job*
HAH. So there.

Ha ha! Awesome!!! ^-^ This deserves a medal!!!! I know the feeling all too well. I wrote a poem about Summer once and it was read aloud to the class. And the teacher started saying how it symbollised a lot of things..... and I just interrupted and said "No, it's just about Summer." and took my seat

hmmmm....i guess i named it that, (cause noted in the artistic comments section) that i was feeling pretty angry and angsty so that my prewrites were pretty rant like....any ideas for a title change?

ohh i would love to offer a suggestion...but i am not so grand with titles...and besides if it's something you are comfortable with~~keep it~~~otherwise stick with what you feel~

hey, suggest away ...if it makes you feel better, if it is a horrible title, i'll just stick with the one i have... but hey, i'm curious

well...i interpret you poem as a rejection of the established mores that govern "proper" poetic thought...i.e the need for symbolism and a few wise words...which is a little ironic because it seems as if you yourself established an axiom which can be said to be a philosophical ideal for which you choose to live by. What i interpret you as suggesting is "be happy w/little philosophical thought or be melancholy with deep circular cognitions." I have discussed such things with friends before...so it is a topic of interest to me...in any case...given these interpretations of your writing...which is a sort of focused rant~~~~i would retain the word rant and title it something like:

Rant in Placation

in this format you maintain your wild-style yet you set a tone of humor by the contradiction that is life and such...
damn...now you have me ranting...

WTF, mate. I do love this poem though. It is very well written. The chatspeak makes it even better, as chershire-chan pointed out. Stereotypes are no fun, but the human race has a habit of assuming and looking for a deeper meaning in things.

I know I am guilty of searching for meaning and that I really couldn't survive if I didn't.

Thank you for this inspirational piece though. It made my day.

XD that's fantastic and hilarious. Fantastic job. It's the only time I can ever remember thinking that the chatspeak and abbreviations actually added to the writing. o_O

would you believe i was compleatly serious when i wrote this? i look back on it now and wonder how angry i was when i wrote it and can now see the humor in it... thank you for adding it to your fav list....

CheshireCat23 In reply to perefalc [2006-03-29 01:48:52 +0000 UTC]

I kind fo figured you were honestly angry, but it's still very amusing. I've felt very similarly when people push the idea that there's always a hidden message. What irritates me the most is when they presume to know what the artist was trying to say when it's not obvious; how do they know what the artsist was thinking?
And you're very welcome!
