Prompt: 'It's never too late.'

Summary: Emboldened by his sister's words of encouragement, Saffron finally got his bearings together and approached one of the senior Wardens to request an interview to join Kinder. Some way or the other, the youngster had let it slip that he favored the position of 'Outrider' and the old soldier had decided to bring it up to Councilwolf Ingva of all the Namünens. Apparently, the codger thought it would 'help' to get acquainted with the established scouts. It was then decided that Kit would be questioned by a Mitteling Outrider, Wysiria.

When the day came, Saffron was all but consumed by anxiety. Still, he resolved to keep a straight face and hide it as much as he could. Kit met the Mitteling at the edge of the territory and was surprised to see a familiar face. He had seen this wolf with the long, flowing cheek fluff before but they had never spoken. Wysiria's fur was whipping about wildly in the chilly autumn wind and she bore a vexed expression. That wasn't intimidating at all...

Once they were seated, the Mitteling quickly began her questions. The only problem was that the wind kept drowning out her words. Kit gawked at her for a moment before plucking up the nerve to speak.

"What...?" He asked softly, brow furrowing in worry.

Annoyed by Usyn's winds, Wysiria sighed and repeated herself in a curt tone.

Kit's eyes instantly lit up like an excited pup, "I know that one, it's..." but once again, the winds whistled like an enraged spirit and drowned him out.

"What?!" Wysiria shouted, further annoyed that she couldn't hear him.

There was a minute of muffled back and forth between them before Kit was finally ordered to speak up by the Mitteling. But with every question answered Kit noted Wysiria growing more irritated and he began to lose heart. And when the Outrider announced that he had passed, it came as more of a relief than a celebration.

"Loba loca, eres como Vergil!" Kit hissed, his lips curling with disdain as he watched the grouchy Outrider trot away. Her fur was still flailing in the wind like a pair of ponytails.

It was getting easier to converse with his... pack-mates, however, Kit still felt exhausted after each interaction. But at least he had passed the test and if all went well, then he would be amongst the Kinder soon. It had taken him more than three whole seasons but he had done it.

"Better late than never, right...?" Saffron mumbled aloud, wondering what he would tell the old Warden who had helped him.

I meant to get this out yesterday but it took longer than expected x'D. What fun first impressions lol. I do sympathize with Siria though, I hate getting hair in my face, even when there's no wind at all. Kit's just struggling with social stuff because he got used to being prisoner and hiding behind Wardens. But he will get better over time.
