Oook!

Really nice I think I'd love to see your own take on the character as this appears to be Paul Kidby's usual depiction, but for all that it's very nicely done

yeah the image I have of the death of rats in my head is pretty much paul kidby's idea of him.

Well, I guess it all works out well then (I think the TV movies go with Kidby's version too, so you're not alone in that regard)

yeah I couldn't imagine a different death of rats even if i wanted to. Kidby gets it pretty much spot on, as he always does

True, though his Vimes is miles from the Vimes in my head. I've never successfully teased mine onto paper though - he's a very elusive fellow (must come from hiding in all those dark doorways on rainy nights), but Kidby really is almost the perfect visual companion for Discworld, so I don't blame anyone for seeing those characters the way he does.

You're right about vimes.. The vimes he draws is a bit too weak-looking for my taste. I imagine him kind of like House.

Excellent artwork on the guy with the sneakiest snicker in the universe. Meticulous attention to detail like the curving of the handle and blade of the scythe, the lining of the robe and the...joinings?...of the tail, as well as the whiskers(on a skeleton?...) and glowly eye-sockets.
Definitely one of the best artpieces of the Death o' Rats. Thank you very much for creating this masterpiece.

Yeah death is such a fascinating character. Terry pratchett has some imagination. I'm currently re-reading Mort

ooh, i haven't read that yet, i wish i could read them in order but i mkeep reading them just whenever i find them
My absolute favourite characters are the wizards and the witches i love them... especially the librarian, nanny ogg and granny weatherwax and maybe C.M.O.T Dibbler or otto von Chriek the photographer for the newspaper and Vetenari ... actually that makes it sound as i'm really indecisive, well i suppose i am but i ADORE Terry Pratchett

perilousrealms In reply to TreeViking [2011-07-12 17:52:42 +0000 UTC]

I love the witches the most too! Granny Weatherwax is such an incredible woman. I want to be her . Have you tried reading the watch books? Sam Vimes is easily one of my favourite male characters in all of fiction. I LOVE his relationship with sybil..

Terry Pratchett really is such an incredible writer. I can't believe he wants to end his life early because of alzheimers. It makes me so sad.

TreeViking In reply to perilousrealms [2011-07-12 18:18:11 +0000 UTC]

i have the book, ugh i can't remember what it's called ... no wait ! 'Men at arms' but i haven't read it yet i've been to busy reading and re reading 'witches abroad' I love going postal too it's the first one i read

I ADORE all of Pratchetts work and totally lament his alzheimers but he is the sole reason i can tolerate my grandfathers 'forgetfulness' without falling into a sobbing wreck every 3 seconds he has shown me that life goes on and i do agree with his views that everyone should have the right to when their life should end but that doesn't make it any easier

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

perilousrealms In reply to TreeViking [2011-07-12 18:38:52 +0000 UTC]

yeah it's so sad that someone that incredible became ill. The world will be a sadder place without him .

Men at Arms is very, very nice. You will love it when you get around to reading it

i should how about 'soul music'? i love that... until that book i hadn't read about the wizards and were indifferent to them ... i quickly changed my mind XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

perilousrealms In reply to TreeViking [2011-07-13 13:20:59 +0000 UTC]

yeah the wizards are so funny. Soul Music is lovely, but then again all discworld novels are wonderful. I think the only character I dislike is Rincewind because I find him boring and annoying.

Well done picture, also your other works are great!
Also I like "Fairy looking up" doll. How did you make it, did you make wire skeleton and then you added polymer clay around it?
I haven't ever made any dolls so I don't know the progress

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

perilousrealms In reply to drandula [2011-07-11 21:20:48 +0000 UTC]

thanks . Yep, I make the armature with wire and then I put the polymer clay on the wire frame. I don;t have a comvection oven so I boil my dolls to cure them. But this discolours the clay so I then have to paint over the clay with acrylic paint.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drandula In reply to perilousrealms [2011-07-11 21:25:03 +0000 UTC]

I read description about boiling. How much it discolors the clay, can it be used as nice effect if you make something else than fairies?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

perilousrealms In reply to drandula [2011-07-12 03:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I'm not sure about that. It leaves a white residue on the clay that's almost impossible to get off. I've boiled polymer clay in different colours and the clay usually looks more faded and less vibrant. It could be an interesting effect I suppose..
