Words could never describe the agonising rush of ice and acid that seemed to pulse through your veins and sprinkle your skin like morning raindrops. You looked at your dress, blood, Bertholdt's blood, seeping through the lace and silk, licking against your skin like liquid fire and staining your body red.

You wanted to scream, to cry, to fall to your knees... but how could you?

You watched, never moving, never making a sound, as everything around you began to run in slow-motion. Bertholdt gripped onto his opened neck with both hands, trying to hold his life together. But you knew he wouldn't be able to, he wouldn't be able to live. More and more thick, hot blood ran through the gaps between his fingers, watering the ground with death, staining the pure white daisies ugly crimson, much like you.

His eyes, those beautiful green eyes that you feel deeply and irrevocably in love with, were beginning to drain of power and alertness as his heavy lids began fluttering shut.

"(Y/n)..." His cry was a splutter of blood and demise. His voice was tremendously painful to hear, knowing that he would never speak your name again, knowing that you couldn't help him survive.

A lump that felt like the size of an orange began growing in your dry throat, making breathing beyond possible. You felt so dizzy and so weak... you felt as though you would die along with Bertholdt in that moment, before Reiner grabbed your hand and began pulling you away. At that moment, adrenaline set in and you could feel your heart clang like a gong against your ribs in savage despair.

You howled some unrecognisable and incomprehendible word as you were dragged away from your lover who still bled on the grass. You couldn't believe the human body could hold that much blood, and the fact that fluid was still squirting uncontrollably from his jugular made you want to impale yourself.

"(Y/n), forget about him! He's gone! Run!" Reiner's words were nothing to you, and though you obeyed and ran, you never stopped looking over your shoulder. You could feel your heart breaking as any and all chance of happiness was drained from you completely.

Reiner pinched your cheek and smiled as he ran his hands up and down your arms, his fingers rolling over the countless bumps of scars that had taken what felt like forever. You didn't respond to his words or his actions, keeping your blank stare focused on the white wall behind on of his shoulders. He sighed. "(Y/n), please stop this. You can't stay silent forever. I'll speak with the Corps; I'll tell them everything if you want me to! You won't get in trouble, I promise! In fact, they'll probably let you quit, they'll understand! You can set up a bakery if you want; just like you said you wanted to last year. And... And maybe one day you'll get married and have children and your life will be good again. Anything's possible now, you're safe! You're safe with me! Please stop doing this, (y/n)! I can't bear it anymore! Talk to me, please!"

One or two tears began to trail down Reiner's face, a sight you never thought you'd see but had seen often over these past few weeks. You were making things hard for him when he had done nothing but try to save you and make you happy, but you couldn't bear to open your mouth for the man who killed your lover.

When you closed your eyes, both at night and during the day, you could see nought but his nightmarish death, how he bled so viciously, how he loved you right until the end...

You closed your eyes and allowed rivers of hot, salty tears to stream down your face. You saw him, you saw Bertholdt clearly, those beautiful emerald eyes that sparkled just for you were shining in the dark abyss of your mind.

"...he kidnapped you; he took you against your will! He was sick, (y/n), he was an absolute psychopath who took you from everyone and everything you loved to bring you into some disgusting fantasy of his..."

He held you with such love and warmth, as though you were all that mattered in the world. And you knew that you WERE all that mattered in his world. You were everything to him, just like he was everything to you.

"... He HURT you! He cut you and bruised you and tied you up! The scars are there to prove it, even if you never say it, (y/n)..."

His touch was always so gentle, and you shuddered under the butterfly kisses of his fingertips. His caress made you moan and mewl, your body craved to be covered with his fingerprints.

Your eyes flashed open. Reiner's hands desperately clutched at your face and his face was rampant with tears. Your anger and denial began to melt like ice under the sun's hot rays. Was it... was it true?

"Why..." You murmured, your voice croaky and rusty after not talking for so long.

Reiner breathed in sharply and looked straight into your eyes, panting heavily. "(Y/n)...?"

"Why..." You began spluttering and shaking. "Why would he do that?" You collapsed into Reiner's open arms. It felt so good to be held by someone who wasn't Bertholdt.

Reiner kissed the top of your head and held you close. "Because he was sick, (y/n). He was sick and you were chosen by him because he wanted to destroy you and your innocence."

You sobbed for what felt like years, until your throat ached from dehydration and effort and your eyes had turned bloodshot. Reiner held your body tight, as though his strong embrace would sooth your shuddering body. "He's gone now, (y/n). He'll never touch you again. You'll never see him again. You'll never have to think of him again."

You shook your head from side to side as you wiggled out of Reiner's arms. "Y-y-you're wrong, Reiner. You're wrong."

"Hey, calm down. He's dead, remember?"

"No. He's not." You chocked.

"YOU'RE WRONG REINER, HE LIVES." You screamed. It felt as though your throat was bleeding from exertion. "He lives still, Reiner... he lives in me. In me..." You backed your quaking body up against the wall, grasping a table for support. When Reiner didn't respond, you looked up at met his eyes, trying to convey what you meant. His eyes widened and his mouth gaped open when he realized exactly what you were saying.

"No. No, you don't mean it, (y/n). This can't be happening..."

You only nodded in response, confirming Reiner's worse nightmare as you rested one hand on your belly.

"That monster. God, I want to kill him all over again!" Reiner yelled as he punched the nearest wall, his fist shattering through the plasterboard covering, making the house rumble. He stayed like that for a few moments, his fist engulfed in the wall.

Reiner was still panting as he pulled away. "There are ways to get rid of it, you know. You shouldn't have to keep a child conceived from such a cruel act; it would be unfair to both of you. All trace that Bertholdt ever existed should be purged from this earth."

You sat there in silence until the sun set. Reiner didn't look you in the eye for the rest of the day; instead his eyes only lingered on your abdomen, showing obvious disgust for the monstrosity that lived inside you, feasting on your nutrients and your life.

Without a word, you went to your room and stumbled in, lying on your bed without turning on the light. You heard a crinkle under your body when you threw your weight onto the mattress. You rolled over and reached for the area you suspected the sound had sourced from. Though it was pitch blank, you knew it was a piece of paper. Had Reiner left you a message or something? You fumbled for a match and a candle.

Your simple room was illuminated with soft orange light. You looked at the paper in your hands.

"To my darling (y/n),

What a pleasure to contact you once more. I have been watching you for weeks now, observing your beauty and loving you from afar, but I still long and crave for you to be back in my arms. You've been a good, loyal little girl, haven't you? You haven't even spoken a word to that snivelling fool. Good girl. You shouldn't waste your breath on such scum.
