I sure do seem to be fascinated with rain, don't I? Eh, what can I say? It's a beautiful thing!I didn't count the hours on this, but it was a LONG time, I can tell you that! Of course, a good portion of that time was spent familiarizing myself with Painter, so hopefully the next piece I make won't take nearly as long to make! I'm slowly learning, and this is a small step in the right direction, I think!

EDIT: Final version is up. Added some deeper shadows and tweaked the background a bit. I think I've done all I can safely do with this one. I'm ready to take what I've learned and apply it to the next piece!

Very cute! ^^ Since this is drawn in a cartoonish style, the dramatic shapes of the tree and landscape look good, but keep in mind where there is light and where there isn't. The grass under the tree would be a bit darker than the grass that's out in the rain. Sharper, more defined shadows on Fluttershy and Angel (especially along her hairline/feathers and the parts of him that are under her wing) would really make them pop and appear more three-dimensional. In the same way, you can make her hair appear more shiny if you don't blur the highlights there. Their closeness reflects nicely in their eyes. Lots of good emotion there. ^_^

Awwww, I love Fluttershy because of her kindness to animals. She reminds me a lot of myself. But to be quite honest, I'm probably a mix between all the main ponies. XD

That's what's so great about this show--I can find a way to relate to almost every pony! They all have one outstanding trait that defines them, one that allows us to identify with them, which makes them all relatable in some way.

I don't have much more to add except that I think it came out looking great! It captures her character nicely. I like all the details in the tree trunk and the grass, and her mane. So many pen strokes... Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much! I just put up a new version with more shadows around the face, but I think that's all I'm going to be doing to it now. I've revised it several times since I uploaded it, but I'm at the point now where I feel like I'm just revising for the sake of revising, instead of for the greater good of the picture. I see one thing, though--I'm much too afraid of shadows. On my next piece, I'll try to do something that forces me to explore light and dark a bit more, maybe break me away from this fear of contrasts. It looks good, I think, zoomed in close, but the moment you start zooming out, it starts to look like just a blob of colors. I think darker, bolder outlines and more shadows would help with that.
