I don't really think of it as anything beyond them being really good friends. I don't like the idea of artists imposing their sexual preference on someone else's creations... it feels rude.

There's a big difference between comments and artwork. Also it's more than just similar, it's the exact same pose, clothes, and expressions.

There really isn't a difference in writing and painting, both are a form of art and expression.
Seriously, what would be the point of ripping off a single piece of art, when I clearly have a pretty full gallery of art that is not copied or ripped off? Why would I suddenly change and for one piece?
The poses are the similar; The clothes are from the episode What Was Missing (as was the inspiration for the piece); The expression on PB in the other piece she is irritated, wherein mine she has a more up-beat expression, as the theme is also different. The coloring is also drastically different.

Great work, love the style and the colors and shading look superb. The shine on PB looks really nice, and Marceline's face.. and the bg makes it special. I have one crit if that's okay. I think PB's body seems a bit too small for her head. Lovely job though!

I like the colour work on Marceline and the hair on PB, but I REALLY hate how PBs skin turned out, it is too flat and single toned. I chalk it up to the fact that she is a post apocalyptic mutant.

I think her skin looks perfect!! But you would be critical of your own work. She's made of bubblegum so the flat is ok. It kind of looks like you could eat her face ._. in a non-creepy way lol. But yeah seriously, I think the whole thing's amazing.

Like I had mentioned, as I had likely seen it before (it is a pretty common picture), it might have sat in the back of my mind and subliminally worked its way into the rough drawing. Anyone who does any form of art should know this is common, as nothing is original. It was not directly drawn from it with intention and I definitely love the other piece!
My original basis for this piece was the concept of duality. While Marceline and PB are opposing characters, they really compliment each other. Just like the theme of the episode What was Missing, which I watched before doing it lol.
