Description Yeah! How ironic!
Of all tose uploads, this one the one I wanted to upload the most, and it's turn came the last!
well, last but not least, it's here!
There also is something I imagined what the eye anatomy would be like. Nothing fancy, except for the fact that there is a lot of room for eye movement (I still don't know if this is what I wanted ) and two lenses in each eye. The optic nerve creates no black spot, the lenses themselves cannot change shape so the focusing is done by increasing or dicreasing the distance between them. The thing that is still left is comming up with a "material" the very front of the eye would be made of, but I was thinking about a transparent scale which protects the eye at all times.
Some species have a circular eyelid so they can regulate the ammount of light comming into the eye. The more i think about it, the more I feel a cylindrical eyeball should be in a cylindrical orbit and a round eye should be in a spherical orbit, so this is the only thing that might change.

No promises on that front. Spec evo is not even on my list of priorities any more and it's been that way for years.

I still like checking out the progress in other people's projects, don't get me wrong, I've just completely lost the drive and inspiration to be creative in this area myself.

Ah, of this one I especially like the beak shape, the multiple eyes (though I think the eye might be a little too-earthly based) and the nostrils on the back! I do wonder what the role of the second pair of flippers would be during swimming... Because, wouldn't they get in the way

some fish have pectoral and ventral fins close to each other and nothing gets in the way, right? I still don't know whether the midlegts shouldn't travel either to the dorsal or ventral region to not be directly behind the forelegs.
funny info - the fluke has incorporated hindleg bones, so no limbs are entirely lost, and the fluke generates the power for swimming, the two front pairs are just stabilizers

Ah, I see! Thanks for explaining!

Btw, what might also be a nice idea is to make the mouth/beak hollow with many small tentacles attached to the side, which filter out the food!

that's a great idea, but I don't know if I'll use it for these animals, maybe somewhere else

Seriously beautiful! very nicely thought out, kept well to water creatures being torpedoes as you say, but exactly different enough to be eye catching, my favorite so far!

Quite an interesting convergence to Earth's fishes, as they focus by moving their lens as well.

Okay. I may be onto something here, but it needs some more work. I'll maybe scan what I have later today, but I can
t do it no, I have to wait a bit to not disturb the others here with noise.

A dolphin yay

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PeteriDish In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2012-04-26 19:11:43 +0000 UTC]

Not quite, but yeah! The one sure thing is that the head will stay more or less wuthout a change, with some necessary variation between the different species, but the thing that still puzzles me is making the body look different than dolphin-like. I still don't think that I succeeded. Any ideas?
