Well, I do have a tripod, but I dont always have it with me, and a lot of my pictures are spur-of-the-moment things when I suddenly see a setting I cant resist, or the light is just amazing or something like that. Then I have to improvise and use what I can find, like trees, stairs, fences, rocks etc. This particular photo was taken in a graveyard, and I used a gravestone as a tripod.
It usually takes a few test-shots to get the composition right.

Ah, sounds like a hassle though! I've often thought that it would be interesting to portray yourself,Β the best solution I've been able to think of so far is the wi-fi in the camera and a smart phone, but the range is pretty short.. I must say you've done a fantastΓc jobΒ despite that trial and error process.
What kind of post-processing did you do on this image? The lighting is very interesting!

It's very easy to take selfportraits with a tripod and a remote, it's just that I never remember to bring the tripod.
This photo was taken late in the day when the sun was low, and while the light was fantastic in the original, it was a bit too hazy, so I kicked the colors and contrast up a bit. And gave it an overall warm feel.
