Description Some say that it's hard to forget pain, but that it's even harder to remember sweetness, because we have no scars to show for happiness. But I think it all depends on how you use your scars. They can be a bitter warning, a reminder that you tried, failed, and that they only way to avoid feeling that pain again is to stay on the beaten path. Or the scars can be a road sign, telling you β€œthat way sucked, this one is much better”, a reminder of the moment you became a wiser and happier person.

I like the way Frost-DeWinter put it... "I see my scars as pagemarks in the book of my history". That's what they are, remnants of a past moment. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bad moment, though. Scars are something very personal, they can be anything, depending on what happened.Β And it is true, we have no scars to show for happiness... happiness shows in our eyes... (:

And I love the picture. β™₯ (:Β

Thank you!
I was just thinking how many people are able to hide their pain and sadness, but no one manages to hide their happiness. It always shows in some way, like in the eyes, in how we talk or how we move. It's just to powerful to contain.

You're very welcome!
Hmm... I don't know... I think pain and sadness show just as much in our eyes, voice, gestures etc. as happiness does. But as pain and sadness are considered negative feelings, and it makes us vulnerable to show them, more people try to hide them, whereas we rarely have a reason to hide our happiness. But it is possible, as well. Β

True. But the first thing that popped into my head was falling in love with the wrong person/at the wrong time, or something like that, when there's a bit of trouble associated with your happiness. But when I've seen that happen there's is always something giving it away - that certain smile when someone is daydreaming, very positive attitudes, etc.

Aahhh... now we're talking about love. that's a different story, then. I agree, being in love in something hard to hide... (:

Wise written. Happiness doesn't bruise your heart, doesn't cause you wounds but as someone said "Scars are proof of the fact that there is healing". Courage, new goals, challenges, small changes are way to happiness. Thank god there's always something to head for

Thank you!
I just heard someone say "A scar is not a wound, but a wound healed". And one of my big heroes - Henry Rollins - said: β€œScar tissue is stronger than regular tissue. Realize the strength, move on.”
And there is always new beginnings to look forward too.

That's a good way to see them. I guess scars is a very good way to remember where one chapter ended and another began.
