Hi Peter.

This shot is very nice!

Its kind a Christmassy even.

I saw you write about layers......

I know one thing and that is Photomatix. Love this applic and with a bit of trial and error you can get some real nice results.

If you want I can give some tips/tricks about how to take this pic with different exposures and merging them in Photomatix? It is not that difficult.

But anyways, nice shot!!

I'm aware of some layering in Gimp but haven't really played with it yet.  I'll do some research on Photomatix this weekend and see what it's all about.     Thanks.

With a 300mm lens... no, not too hard at all.  Tripod on the ground, aimed up at the building.  What was hard was getting the building in decent shape for the shot and keeping the moon somewhat clear.  I don't know PhotoShop and just recently picked up Gimp so I don't know how to do one of those layered shots.  Until then, this is what I got.

I hear ya, trying to figure it out as well as I am going along. I seems I'll need some courses in PS sooner or later.

Still its a great shot

Haha, YouTube graduate That had to sink in first since I was never really into it unless I had to for certain research purposes.

I research video and photography tips, tricks, and follow pros to see what they're really doing to get shots.  There's a lot of great info out there.  Worth a few minutes.  Might turn you into a researcher on a new level.

I took your advice actually ... One thing I learned that despite the amount I learned in all these years I never stopped learning,  and still know so little ...

Somebody studied and figured out that we use like, not enough of our brain.. or not it's full potential. There was a number. I wasn't paying attention.  But I figure if I can squeeze 5% more than the people around me, even if it's just cool stuff to know, I'll be like, Einstein or Ford.  Hahaha

Education is very important to me.... Just not the formal schooling way... At least that's how I feel.  Why should I learn all the states and capitals when Google Earth tell me and put me on the street of any of them in less than a minute?  I hate the memorization of things.   I'm into the things that bring you to an edge and it's up to you to search and do more to find out more.  A little video opens up the "how to" but doing helps me see.  When I see, I understand, then the mind plays, and new ideas come into reality, and are put into action... More is learned then and through trial and error, perfection or damn near it, is born.

Educate comes from the Latin verb Educare which means "to bring out"... not cram in...   I hate the fact that my daughter is being forced to memorize her multiplication tables up to 15 at the age of 9.  Especially when the school requires them to have a calculator with them every day... What f#(%*&($*% sense does that make???  Wasting valuable time she can be developing life skills on something that she can easily type on a machine to figure out.  This system needs to be rehashed!!

Books, articles, videos and hands on experience... that's how I learn and I like it.  Keep pushing your brain muscle.  Every day we learn something new... Educare might be the first new thing for today...  Find two more

Oh dear, that is a hornet's nest that you barely touched here and if you and I would go deeper into this subject, it would require several six packs (lets make that a barrel or two), some place quiet and a heck of a lot of time. (to give you and idea how serious this topic is to me: my motto on all my emails is: If you think education is expensive, try ignorance!) I hope we will be granted this time some day

Two six packs and a bottle of scotch... I'll bring the cigars if interested... and it's a date!!     I love intellectually stimulating conversation.  And we can do it while walking around taking pictures... DOUBLE PLUS!!!   One day friend... one day
