Description
Vistart2.0 for XP. Correct size of startmenu, correct number of options on right side panel. Nearly as close as possible to the original. Working on the rest.If you like it, give it a try.
Update: English version added. Probably the best version. German version will be updated the next few days. German and english exe files are different, so be careful.
Look at the screenshot to compare with the original.
By default the games button leads to videos. You must have installed the original vista games (Google for it) to make it fully functional.Enter the path C/Programfiles/Microsoft games to the settings xml file.

P.S. If you have installed a previous version of vistart, first delete the autostart, reboot and apply this. Otherwise it will not work.

This has nothing to do with the visual style you use. Be sure you have the NET.frameworks installed.Sometimes there are problems if you have more than one NET. based app in autostart like BorderSkin or SBar.If yes turn them off and try again.
If Vistart starts correct, there should be no prob to load whatever you want.The Vistart buttons are simple shortcuts. You can edit them to your likings in the XML file in the Vistart folder.If nothing helps uninstall Vistart, go to Lee's page and download from there. Reinstall it and you should be fine.(Hopefully)

For me I have to launch the application when I turn on my computer in order to get the skin. Is this normal?

Don't use the Autostartfunction of Vistart. It's not working very good. Go to the Vistart folder and make a shortcut of the Vistart.exe. Copy it in your autostart folder.
Or if Vistart starts with another skin, than you have another version installed too. Please first delete it and than install again.

Any way to make the start-button go lower? i'm using a small task-bar theme ( Seven VG Black RTM normal taskbar by Vishal Gupta) and the start button is too high :S I've searched in all the xml / setting files and i didn't find anything related to the start button position D: . Thanks in advance

Good question.It's a while ago that i made a Vistart skin, but i don't remember there's a way to change this by settings / XML files.Only thing you can try: Open the orb resources with GIMP or whatever you use.Add some transparent pixels over the image means make it higher.Maybe this will bring down the orb.Tell me if it works.

Also, do you know any way with GIMP to change the color of the start-menu picture? ( or to make it graphite coz that's what i want

or you can do it yourself which is a lot of work.
It's easier to make a new image than changing the colour of a existing one.You can try to desaturate this one and try how it looks.Could work to make a greyish (graphite) one.

Glad it helps you. You can also make it darker with adjusting the brightness with GIMP.

Open the image with GIMP. Choose colours from the menu. Select brightness and contrast, and adjust it to your likings.

I thought about that but i thought the "button" (where you press) will still stay up..
Wow it took me 30 minutes...I could've done it in 5 if i thought a little smarter..lol -- it's nearly perfect now : it's right in place but i would've like it 3/4 pixels lower- the only prob is if i did that, the next rollover shows in with it :S Wish you remember what was that command for it's position xD

It's a VS not a Windowblinds skin.ff never releases a VS, so why don't you stop attacking Sagorpirbd? It's the best win7 VS available on Da. Both try to copy the Win7 look, and so it's clear, they get a similar result.If i would make a Win7VS, it would look like like this too. That's the reason why i never made it.
This fight is pretty old and should rest in peace. No reason to warm this up.There are so many things on Da which deserve more attention than this.

If you are really interested in a black ViStart skin, let me know and I can arrange for you to have the version I made. If Peter decides to also make a black version, you will be able to select the one you prefer. Peter's work is excellent! Also, mine is only available in English. Not sure if you need a German version.

Seems you will make a whole new OS.If you have the time, why not. It,s ever good to improve the skills. When i look at your work, i would say you are on a very good way.Can't wait to try the "Aura".

As for the Vistart theme, I will attempt to make one, but I don't think I'm that good enough to make a theme that would be worth including.
Oh yes, I almost forgot...
I have included all the Splinter Cell games
Plus icons for the entire Adobe CS4 (Like photoshop, flash, etc...)
Pretty much all I have left to do is to make a few more Dock Icons, different colour dock themes and then it should be ready to be released
