Jadiete asks Ling Ling whether she knows Lunar new year specifically the chinese one...last 15 days long. She tells him no and explains why and its not that big of a deal. Eventhough its "suppose" to be her culture because of how she looks but she not from those places or have been around those people. From their perspective she is like an odd ball or alien? Looks like them but not really them and is totally different.

Anyways Jadiete summarises the info he researched to let her know about it....lunar new new follows the phases of the moon from start of the new moon to full moon. Day 1 is luna new years day, Day 2 to 7 visiting relatives and friends, also Day 7 is Everyone's birthday...In mythology the goddess created the world, she created the animals on different days and humans on the seventh day.

1st day chickens 2nd day dogs 3rd day boars 4th sheep 5th cows 6th horses and 7th mankind hence its views as the birth day of humans.
Day 14 is the officially the last day of the year of the tiger and finally Day 15 is lantern festival lunar....lunar new year ends and is officially the year of the rabbit. So...during Day 1 to Day 14 its still the year of the tiger which not alot of people don't know and thinks its already the year of the rabbit.
February 5th is the beginning of the year of the Rabbit and its the new full moon.

Also not forgeting...Lunar new year is different in different cultures...for example did you know... Vietnamese celebrates the year of the cat...and Koreans celebrate Seollal the 1st day of the korean lunar calendar...
