Just finished my rewatch of Africa, and let me tell you... very few interesting characters this time around. I decided to do things differently this time, and I did all my write ups at the end of the season instead of right after each boot like Borneo and Australia. That turned out to be a bad idea because I had very little to say about most of these people... because quite frankly, by the time the finale came around I had forgotten who most of these people are. So yeah, not going to be a great ranking due to the very unmemorable cast, but here we go anyways.

16. Lindsey Richter (11th Place)
During my first watch, I actually liked Lindsey and she probably would have been in the top half of the season, but rewatching… I couldn’t stand her to the point where her voice annoyed me. I felt like she was the leader of the youngers, and rubbing it in the elders faces with her necklaces. Yeah… not a fan anymore.

15. Brandon Quinton (8th Place)
I sort of liked him during my first watch, but now I realize how stupid of a move he made and I realize that he really screwed over his own game. Plus I liked the youngers in first watch, and hated them second watch… so they all kind of dropped just because of that alliance.

14. Carl Bilancione (14th Place)
All I remember is that he lost in a tiebreaker. The early boots in Africa were very unmemorable as you will see in my ranking… I think Carl was the person to talk about how much money he had or something like that (I could be completely wrong here), but that makes him lower than the other early boots.

13. Jessie Camacho (15th Place)
Remember nothing about her except she got sick.

12. Silas Gaither (12th Place)
I didn’t hate him as much as some other people seem to hate him, but I definitely didn’t like him. The whole “keep voting for Lindsey so it doesn’t screw us youngers up, but we’ll keep voting you off one by one” was stupid. Glad he got screwed over by the switch because it would have sucked if there was no switch and he made it to the merge.

11. Diane Ogden (16th Place)
Similar to Jessie, not much to say about her because I barely remember her. I remember she got sick, and got Clarence in trouble for opening the can of beans. Higher than Jessie simply because of the bean incident.

10. Tom Buchanan (4th Place)
Okay, let me start by saying I’ve gone from hating Tom, to liking Tom, to hating Tom, to finding him to be just alright. I found it hard to understand most of what he was saying which I guess was funny at some times, but at other times it was annoying (think Malik from SFC8 if you read that, except not nearly as bad). He had funny moments, especially the drunk moments on rewards.

9. Lex van den Berghe (3rd Place)
Talk about taking things way to personal in a game where you sign up to be backstabbed. I started off liking him early in the season, but it got tiring to see him get upset over one vote at tribal council. He had the attitude of “I’m Lex, how dare you vote me out” and it’s like… really? Do you not realize what you signed up for?

8. Frank Garrison (7th Place)
Frank was pretty interesting to say the least. I don’t really like him, but he had good moments so he’s not as low as some other people. He was very opinionated, and that made him annoying and funny at the same time. Plus he was opposing the young alliance. Yeah, I’m very mixed on Frank.

7. Kim Johnson (2nd Place)
She wasn’t very interesting or entertaining, and really one of the few things that stand out about her to me is how slow she was in all the running challenges. Not saying that’s bad, but really it’s one of the very few things I noticed about her.

6. Clarence Black (10th Place)
Opposite to Lindsey, during my first watch I didn’t like him at all, but during the rewatch he was actually pretty good. The bean incident was actually interesting, but the fact that it kept getting brought up episode after episode… I just felt like the tribe should have gotten over it, but they never really did. It was cool watching him survive with that hanging on everyone’s mind.

5. Ethan Zohn (Winner)
As a winner, Ethan was pretty boring. He never really had a key moment in the game, and as we learned in the final tribal council, he didn’t build many personal relationships. If I forget about the fact that he was the winner, he’s alright because a lot of the characters this season were pretty boring, but since he was the winner I expected a little more out of him. Luckily for him there’s a lot more boring people than him, and although I try not to let other seasons sway my decision, I can’t help but put him a little higher due to All Stars.

4. Linda Spencer (13th Place)
Linda is the first pre-merge boot that I actually liked. She gave good confessionals, and she was very energetic despite being on the losing side of the tribe. The hug with Lindsey was a pretty funny moment.

3. Kim Powers (6th Place)
If I only based it on pre-merge, she would be much lower due to association, but she redeemed herself at the merge. It was interesting to watch Brandon and Kim’s alliance fall apart. Not a lot to say about her, but for some reason I liked her.

2. Kelly Goldsmith (9th Place)
I liked Kelly because she played a strategic game and yet I still considered her one of the nicer people in the game. I’ll admit, she wasn’t all that memorable, but from what I remember she was playing the game pretty hard and risked herself to switch over to the other tribe… only to get screwed over my Brandon. And it was funny how she hated Lex.

1. Teresa Cooper (5th Place)
I feel like a lot of people will disagree with this, but I felt Teresa was a Tina 2.0, and I liked Teresa a lot more that I liked Tina. I felt she was given more screen time than Tina was and was more likeable than Tina. I definitely wanted Teresa to win, and it sucked that she didn’t… but at the same time, it wouldn’t have been great following Australian Outback where someone similar to her already won.
