I used to do a lot of shading back in the day, but decided to just shade on certain parts, then again I might do a fully shaded piece later on.

Ahh I see. I noticed that you only shaded the cylindrical type parts or detail parts on the ACs

By doing so, it forces the eye to look at the part then just looking at the whole.
