Apologies in advance for this one folks. It seems instead of writing something clever here I've opted to whip out the old soapbox...

The great thing about animation is how EXPRESSIVE it can be. In say the Lion King you see Simba's eyes go wide, his mouth agape as he watches Mufasa die. Where as say a realistic CGI Lion would just look bored. So if you don't factor in the expressive animation that accompanies a song like "Kiss the girl" you could see it as problematic.
But if you actually watch the scene it's a great representation of a pretty healthy relationship. Eric is hesitant to make a move on Ariel. He assumes she's been through a lot and is worried he might be taking advantage of her. He's also clueless to the clear signals she is giving him. Which again are emphasized by fantastic animation. As a wise woman once said "And DON'T underestimate the importance of a BODY LANGUAGE!"
I really wanted to write something clever here but I'm passionately against live action remakes. I'm a firm believer in the principal that if you can't improve on a work, you shouldn't remake it. You're just making a bland emotionless copy that will inevitably be compared to the original and come up short. You lose so much color and emotion trying to make a mermaid or a genie look REAL.

You've stuck with my rant this long so I might as well explain why Pepe and Jessica. I ship these two, Not in a romantic sense, Jessica and Roger's devotion to each other is something we should all aspire to emulate. I ship them in an antagonistic way. They're essentially two sides of the same problematic coin. While both characters have more to offer than "Hot toon babe and aggressively clingy skunk" however because they might offend people a change had to be made. Jessica gets a trench coat and a new job and Pepe gets erased from Space Jam. Two different icons of a bygone era, two different fates. Hence my continued enthusiasm to pair these two up.

One last thought on The Little Mermaid remake. It's sad to think that this classic number will likely not be in it...
