Appearance > Kalin is a thin dark blue-grey Sea-Sky hybrid. He has a blood red underside, along with three blood red marks near his right(they are not on the left side of his face) eye. Those three markings glow no matter what(he cannot control it) whenever he laughs(which is quite often). He has red and grey-blue wings covered in blue and pink glowscales. He has pink glowscales on his shoulders, and blue glowscales on all of his legs. He has two pink glowscales on the skin leading up to each horn. On his left horn, he wears a turquoise amulet wrapped three times around his horn. He has light blue Seawing fins from his head to about two thirds of the way down his long tail. His eyes are black instead of white with an dull yellow iris. The webbing on his talons is the same color as his fins.

POWERS >
-Limited Underwater Breathing: Kalin can spend up to a 2 hours underwater just fine, but however long he stays underwater, he has to take that amount of time plus 72 hours before his body has recovered enough to do it again. After the two hours, his gills seize up and he begins to drown.
-No darkvision whatsoever
-Firebreath with a catch: Kalin can use firebreath, with about the same strength as any other Skywing, but it’s more like a fireball or short but dense burst of fire(cannot breathe long streams of fire). The problem is, though, as Seawings do not have any breath ability, their bodies aren’t built for it, so after he uses certain amounts of fire the following happens:
1 burst of fire: sore throat
2 bursts of fire: even more sore throat, it hurts to yell
3 bursts of fire: throat is very sore, cannot yell, hurts to speak a normal volume
4 bursts of fire: throat literally feels like it’s on fire, cannot speak, cannot yell, can only whisper for short periods of time(a sentence or two) until he has to wait around ten minutes to speak again
5 bursts of fire: at this point his throat hurts so much he would almost prefer it being ripped out, cannot speak, whisper, or yell whatsoever, can barely lift his head(once any fury or strong emotion has worn off and reality sets in)
6-9 bursts: after he uses the sixth burst of fire, he has roughly three minutes(reduced by a minute every blast after six) before he is knocked unconscious, along with everything from the previous levels
10+ bursts: If he somehow stays conscious long enough to use more than nine blasts, chances are after the next one he could die(due to burning the inside of his throat nearly beyond or beyond recovery). Effects listed for any fewer blasts are also applied

Trait1 > Focus: While he doesn’t really care to follow most things through, those he does take all the way, he takes literally all the way. When he starts focusing on something, it’s almost like an obsession, he just has to finish it before he can start on something else. It takes over his life, just as a thirst for vengeance is currently all that is on his mind.

Trait2 > Good memory: He can remember most any dragon he has met’s name, so he can easily accidentally shock other dragons he hasn’t seen in years by speaking their name before they say it. If you wrong him, it’s forever ingrained in his mind.

Trait3 > Quick reaction speed: Due to the fact he keeps a close eye on what’s around him, despite the fact he doesn’t notice everything, he notices everything that affects him directly. Because of this, when put in a pressurized situation he can act normal, or if something is going to hit him if he doesn’t move he gets out of the way.

NEUTRAL:

Trait1 > Unusual times to laugh: Kalin oftentimes begins to laugh midway through a sentence, for no particular reason. Sometimes it’s a more sinister laughter(if he hates you), other times it’s just as though he found something very funny. Regardless, it makes other dragons think he’s weird, but he doesn’t care at all. Because of this, he comes off as someone with an unstable personality to others, which isn’t wrong.

Trait2 > You must earn my trust: Kalin is a dragon who won’t trust anyone until they give him a reason to. He’s been betrayed one too many times to be able to freely trust others. If you don’t show loyalty to him, he’ll just shrug it off, he doesn’t care anyway. But if you somehow actually manage to get him to trust you(it would take years), you will have his undying loyalty. However, if he is betrayed again, he might never be able to trust anyone ever again. Permanently.

Trait3 > Sits around looking useless a lot: Kalin sits around in random places a lot, looking like he’s just being lazy. What he’s really doing is thinking about the future, surveying his surroundings, and thinking of ways to entertain himself. Also on the lookout for sources of entertainment.

Trait4 > Cocky: Kalin believes he truly is better than a lot of other dragons. He’s not one to back down from a challenge and hates to lose. He’s proud of himself and he loves it. He’s not gonna change for anyone or anything.

Trait1 > Blunt: Kalin is blunt when it comes to anything. If he dislikes you, he’ll make it very visible. If something is annoying him, he’ll yell at someone until he’s not being annoyed by it anymore. Even dragons who dislike Kalin understand he’s not going to hide his opinions about anything. Trait2 > Sadistic: Kalin does not try to hide the fact he likes to watch other's suffering, he’d especially love to watch if you have wronged him. In fact, so much so, he might even be the one causing you to suffer. This trait is yet another reason not a lot of dragons like him. He'll see someone else suffering and most likely laugh, finding joy in it. He has suffered, so he wants to see others suffer as well.

Trait3 > Takes things too far: Most dragons will realize this a bit too late, but Kalin has a tendency to take things too far. Things that might start out as a joke prank that he wants revenge for might actually start risking dragon(s)’s lives. Baby Dragonet >

Kalin was a hybrid of a Seawing and a Skywing in the town of Cliffside, a town near the edge of the Sand and Sky Kingdoms, in the Sand Kingdom though, becoming just another hybrid in the town. Hybrids were a normal occurrence in Cliffside, with it being a village no one tribe truly dominated. He had two loving parents, his mother, Hitode the Seawing, and his father, Gake the Skywing. This time of his life was relatively peaceful, nothing big really happened. He was taught basic words and how to speak Aquatic. It was also during this time that he found out the red glowscales on his face glow when he laughs.

Dragonet >

As a dragonet, Kalin spent his days trying to learn everything he could. He was interested in knowledge, trying to make good use of his life. He didn’t have a lot of friends due to the fact he was always in different places or alone in his room. He always visited the shops around the town, interested in seeing how things were done. He began to be that of a familiar face to the shopkeepers, they would always have little tasks they would let him do. He had no problem with this, he found it fun, and he was learning a lot.
One time while he was trying to light a fire with flint and steel, he got impatient and an instinct inside him told him that he should just breathe fire on it. He had no idea that he was able to do such a thing, but figured out that day that he could. He told his parents what he did, but also that his throat hurt after doing it. They, and everyone else, just assumed it could be because he was so young. However, they later found out it was because he was a hybrid of a firebreather and a non-firebreather, he possessed the ability to make fire, but not all of the internal defenses against it.

During dragonethood, he also took a particular interest in how some dragons could embed the jewels into others so seamlessly. His interest in it was relevant to the dragons who did it, and they decided to take him under their wing and teach him how. He kept practicing and learning for many months, trying to perfect the skill. This carried over into young adulthood, and he kept what he learned with him even after his mentors told him he had learned everything they had to teach him.

Young Adult >

As a young adult, Kalin still lived in the village of Cliffside. It was a peaceful town accepting of hybrids, which made it a good place for him to be. He was just living his normal life, helping out in shops and meeting new dragons. There were two dragons in particular he always spent time with, which was a female Sea-Night hybrid named Tiru, and a Sky-Night hybrid named Rei. They did everything together, whether it was helping out shops or exploring the areas surrounding the village.
One day, they were exploring a forest, when they found an entrance to an underground cave system. They found that it stretched on for a mile, coming back to it day after day and never tiring of it’s mystery. One day while they were down there, Kalin heard Tiru exclaim in shock at something she liked, and he wanted to know what it was. She tells him it was nothing. He can tell it’s a lie, but doesn’t press her for information.
Rei seemed to find something of interest down there also, but he wouldn’t tell either of them what it was. He seemed to be getting more and more secretive. Kalin and Tiru were concerned about this, but didn’t pry. The three of them just left the cave and returned to the village once more when they were done for the day.
After that day, Tiru seemed to avoid him for the next couple weeks. Kalin had no idea why, and he felt bad and wanted to know if he did something wrong. He asked Rei for advice, but Rei just brushed him off and said he was too busy for such trivial matters. So he tried out his fire again, this time one some targets in the village. He shot just two fireballs at the targets, but already felt his throat hurting. He didn’t think this was normal, so he decided to go for a swim to clear his mind. While out at the beach, he found Rei, bored of waiting for an answer. Rei told him that they(Tiru and him(Rei)) had both seen a turquoise gem, something they hadn't come across before. They loved the look of it, and had liked it so much that they had tried testing their forgery skills by using it in some sort of jewelry.
When they returned to the village, he found that Tiru was hanging out with him again. He asked her why she had been avoiding him and she told him “no particular reason”, which was not a great answer for him to hear. That day they decided to go to the forest to explore without Rei, as he said he would be busy that day(more specifically because he hadn't finished what he was doing with the turquoise jewel). Little did they know, it was both the best and worst decision they could have made.
When they returned to the town of Cliffside they found that it was all up in flames(the fire was not Rei's fault, while he accidentally let a few sparks fly, it was other unidentifiable dragons who saw that and took advantage of it, causing the real fire). They ran down to see what was happening, finding that many dragons were in a panicked state. They became separated in the chaos, larger dragons running all about. When they found each other, Tiru had been trapped under a large piece of debris. As he looked around for something to help, he saw one of the older dragons doing something like congratulating Rei as he walked away, seemingly uncaring Tiru’s situation). He had clearly seen it, Kalin had seen him look in her eyes. She then also revealed that he had told her to stand there and wait for him(this, unbeknownst to Kalin, was a huge misunderstanding. Rei had been trying to find help for Tiru after seeing that something fell on her. The older dragon was actually comforting Rei and trying to keep him calm as they waited found help for her(of which cam too late, Tiru suffocating from the smoke and being crushed and all). Upon hearing this, Kalin’s blood ran cold, he had been betrayed. He lost his kindness and ability to trust, his heart harboring a hate for Rei ever since then.
Kalin tried with everything he had to get her out. He shoved against the boulder, but his low strength meant he wasn’t very effective in his attempts. Tiru accepted she was going to probably die there, telling him to listen closely. She told him not to blame himself for her death, and to take the turquoise amulet to remember their friendship.
He took it, but still tried unsuccessfully to get her out. She kept telling him to run, to get out of there, but he wouldn’t listen. He refused to leave her behind, his stubbornness distracting him from the situation around him so much that he didn’t even realize until too late that something was falling on him. He was knocked out cold.
When he woke up, he was in some sort of hospital, which he later found to be the Ruby Hospital. He had been found in a bad condition by an alliance member, who took him there to recover. He explored the place he had been taken, eventually finding a dragon to interact with. He was told that no dragon had been brought with him, and that all they could find of his was a turquoise amulet.
He remembered Tiru and nearly broke down, the sadness that she really was gone fresh in his mind. He listened to the staff describe the Alliance, and he decided he wanted to join. He wanted, no, needed, to become stronger. So that he could protect himself, because no one else was there for him. So he wouldn’t be betrayed again. He took the time to recover that he needed for a couple weeks, before setting off on a journey to the Isle Mezzo. He found a mentor and began training for the next couple of years.

Adult > WARNING: SLIGHTLY DETAILED GORE AND MURDER

After being recruited to the Alliance, and serving his two years of training, Kalin quickly began work as an Alliance member, sorted into the Order of the Shield. He went on all sorts of missions with other Alliance members, from solving arguments to finding murderers. However, on one mission, his team seemed to see things differently than he did. They were trying to track down a thief, a particularly clever older dragonet who had stolen things from multiple shops and civilians. They finally caught up to him, but just as they were going to arrest him, Kalin saw something in his bag of stolen goods he recognized. The little bastard had stolen the most valuable thing in the world to him, the turquoise pendant that Tiru had given him before he was forced to flee the village.
In an act of rage, despite all the training and control the Alliance had taught him, he leapt at the thief, knocking him over and staring deep into his eyes with rage. He thought of the best way to kill this young dragonet painfully, slowly, agonizingly. He dug his claws into the thief’s chest, drawing blood and worrying the other Alliance members, as the thief was only a dragonet, who probably didn't know any better. They tried to drag him off the dragonet, but while they did, he used the dragonet as his ground to dig into with his claws while trying not to move. The dragonet was visibly in a lot of pain, and it made Kalin so, so, so happy. He was laughing hysterically at this point, enjoying the thief’s pain so much that he couldn’t control his laughing.
Though, he knew that the thief’s pain was not enough for him to be satisfied. There were five other dragons on the team taken to find and capture the thief, purely because of how much they would have to sort and distribute. So Kalin, knowing the consequences, decided to use his fire. He aimed carefully so he didn’t waste any shots, and fired at the dragons holding him back, along with the other three going for the thief who was running. The jumped onto the thief and knocked him over once again, this time wasting no time as he readied his fire. He looked into those scared eyes of the thief’s, enjoying his pain so much… and shot a fireball to the face. It was followed by a blast to the neck, and then a claw slash to the throat.
By now, all five Alliance members who had come on the mission were focused solely on restraining Kalin, as he was a danger to everyone. Having used his fire seven times respectively, he didn’t have a lot of fight left in him. But he didn’t need to fight back, having accomplished his mission of making the dragon who wronged him feel immense pain. He was laughing hysterically, or at least showing the physical reflex for it, along with the scales on his face which glow when he laughs glowing, yet no sound came out of him. This was because his vocal chords had been touched by fire too much at that moment, he had used a lot more than he would have normally.
He wasn’t paying attention to the other Alliance dragons at this point, he was watching the thief silently bleed out. The world around him was becoming fuzzy, he was finally starting to feel the immense pain in his throat. He saw one of the Alliance dragons look at him in some sort of angry, scolding way that seemed to show hate for Kalin. Yet he didn’t have time to see, hear, or think of anything else, as the world went black, two minutes having passed since he used his seventh shot and going unconscious.
When he woke up again, weeks later, he was in the hospital wing of the Alliance-University building. It took him a moment to remember what happened, and then he felt the horrible pain in his throat. He couldn’t move his head whatsoever, so he looked at what he could see of the room with his eyes. It seemed to be a private room of the hospital wing, with the bed he was on being the only one in the room. He was too weak to even control his glowscales, so he felt very vulnerable. He couldn’t communicate whatsoever because he pushed himself too close to his limits weeks ago.
A staff member of the hospital wing came in for what was probably a daily checkup to make sure he was still alive, and realized he was awake. They immediately left, seeming to be going to get another dragon. And that was the right assumption, as the staff member came back with none other than Spinx. At this point, he knew something bad was going to happen.
Spinx made sure the door was shut and that the medical staff member was the only other dragon in the room. Then, she went on and on to Kalin about how he had put the Alliance’s reputation at risk, along with murdering a dragon who hadn’t been tried. She was practically screaming at Kalin not just what he had done wrong, but criticizing almost every part of him(this isn’t exactly how Spinx believed the situation was going, but it is what Kalin felt like was happening).
After trying to calm down for a moment, Spinx said the thing that would affect Kalin forever. That he was being removed from the Alliance for what he did. How at his current age and mentality, he was not fit for the Alliance. Spinx told Kalin he could stay within the hospital wing as long as he needed to recover, but that after that he had to leave. He would be allowed to remain on Mezzo, but could not cause or partake in any sort of illegal activity, or he would have to leave Mezzo.
After this, Spinx left, along with the medical staff after finishing the checkups. Kalin felt horrible, he was angry, sad, just too full of emotions he wasn’t used to handling. Once he had fully recovered, he began his life as a normal civilian, trying to grow himself as a dragon. He wants to one day try once more to enter the Alliance, but knows he’ll have to wait a long while before he can reclaim the life he once had.
That brings us to the present day, where Kalin works on-off as someone who embeds jewels in other dragon’s scales. He still laughs at almost everything, he truly finds most of it funny, but he is often also found thinking about the things he hates. Because hate is embedded deep within him, and it’s not going away any time soon. And thus why any other dragon’s suffering became one of those things to laugh at.

Note of clarification: Kalin was recruited as a trainee at age 10, spending about two years training. Then, he spent ~2.5 years in the Alliance as a Shieldite before being kicked out at age 14.5

Trait2 > Good memory: He can remember most any dragon he has met’s name, so he can easily accidentally shock other dragons he hasn’t seen in years by speaking their name before they say it. If you wrong him, it’s forever ingrained in his mind.

Trait3 > Quick reaction speed: Due to the fact he keeps a close eye on what’s around him, despite the fact he doesn’t notice everything, he notices everything that affects him directly. Because of this, when put in a pressurized situation he can act normal, or if something is going to hit him if he doesn’t move he gets out of the way.

Trait1 > Unusual times to laugh: Kalin oftentimes begins to laugh midway through a sentence, for no particular reason. Sometimes it’s a more sinister laughter(if he hates you), other times it’s just as though he found something very funny. Regardless, it makes other dragons think he’s weird, but he doesn’t care at all. Because of this, he comes off as someone with an unstable personality to others, which isn’t wrong.

Trait2 > You must earn my trust: Kalin is a dragon who won’t trust anyone until they give him a reason to. He’s been betrayed one too many times to be able to freely trust others. If you don’t show loyalty to him, he’ll just shrug it off, he doesn’t care anyway. But if you somehow actually manage to get him to trust you(it would take years), you will have his undying loyalty. However, if he is betrayed again, he might never be able to trust anyone ever again. Permanently.

Trait3 > Sits around looking useless a lot: Kalin sits around in random places a lot, looking like he’s just being lazy. What he’s really doing is thinking about the future, surveying his surroundings, and thinking of ways to entertain himself. Also on the lookout for sources of entertainment.

Baby Dragonet >

Kalin was a hybrid of a Seawing and a Skywing in the town of Cliffside, a town near the edge of the Sand and Sky Kingdoms, in the Sand Kingdom though, becoming just another hybrid in the town. Hybrids were a normal occurrence in Cliffside, with it being a village no one tribe truly dominated. He had two loving parents, his mother, Hitode the Seawing, and his father, Gake the Skywing. This time of his life was relatively peaceful, nothing big really happened. He was taught basic words and how to speak Aquatic. It was also during this time that he found out the red glowscales on his face glow when he laughs.

Dragonet >

As a dragonet, Kalin spent his days trying to learn everything he could. He was interested in knowledge, trying to make good use of his life. He didn’t have a lot of friends due to the fact he was always in different places or alone in his room. He always visited the shops around the town, interested in seeing how things were done. He began to be that of a familiar face to the shopkeepers, they would always have little tasks they would let him do. He had no problem with this, he found it fun, and he was learning a lot.
One time while he was trying to light a fire with flint and steel, he got impatient and an instinct inside him told him that he should just breathe fire on it. He had no idea that he was able to do such a thing, but figured out that day that he could. He told his parents what he did, but also that his throat hurt after doing it. They, and everyone else, just assumed it could be because he was so young. However, they later found out it was because he was a hybrid of a firebreather and a non-firebreather, he possessed the ability to make fire, but not all of the internal defenses against it.

During dragonethood, he also took a particular interest in how some dragons could embed the jewels into others so seamlessly. His interest in it was relevant to the dragons who did it, and they decided to take him under their wing and teach him how. He kept practicing and learning for many months, trying to perfect the skill. This carried over into young adulthood, and he kept what he learned with him even after his mentors told him he had learned everything they had to teach him.

Young Adult >

As a young adult, Kalin still lived in the village of Cliffside. It was a peaceful town accepting of hybrids, which made it a good place for him to be. He was just living his normal life, helping out in shops and meeting new dragons. There were two dragons in particular he always spent time with, which was a female Sea-Night hybrid named Tiru, and a Sky-Night hybrid named Rei. They did everything together, whether it was helping out shops or exploring the areas surrounding the village.
One day, they were exploring a forest, when they found an entrance to an underground cave system. They found that it stretched on for a mile, coming back to it day after day and never tiring of it’s mystery. One day while they were down there, Kalin heard Tiru exclaim in shock at something she liked, and he wanted to know what it was. She tells him it was nothing. He can tell it’s a lie, but doesn’t press her for information.
Rei seemed to find something of interest down there also, but he wouldn’t tell either of them what it was. He seemed to be getting more and more secretive. Kalin and Tiru were concerned about this, but didn’t pry. The three of them just left the cave and returned to the village once more when they were done for the day.
After that day, Tiru seemed to avoid him for the next couple weeks. Kalin had no idea why, and he felt bad and wanted to know if he did something wrong. He asked Rei for advice, but Rei just brushed him off and said he was too busy for such trivial matters. So he tried out his fire again, this time one some targets in the village. He shot just two fireballs at the targets, but already felt his throat hurting. He didn’t think this was normal, so he decided to go for a swim to clear his mind. While out at the beach, he found Rei, bored of waiting for an answer. Rei told him that they(Tiru and him(Rei)) had both seen a turquoise gem, something they hadn't come across before. They loved the look of it, and had liked it so much that they had tried testing their forgery skills by using it in some sort of jewelry.
When they returned to the village, he found that Tiru was hanging out with him again. He asked her why she had been avoiding him and she told him “no particular reason”, which was not a great answer for him to hear. That day they decided to go to the forest to explore without Rei, as he said he would be busy that day(more specifically because he hadn't finished what he was doing with the turquoise jewel). Little did they know, it was both the best and worst decision they could have made.
When they returned to the town of Cliffside they found that it was all up in flames(the fire was not Rei's fault, while he accidentally let a few sparks fly, it was other unidentifiable dragons who saw that and took advantage of it, causing the real fire). They ran down to see what was happening, finding that many dragons were in a panicked state. They became separated in the chaos, larger dragons running all about. When they found each other, Tiru had been trapped under a large piece of debris. As he looked around for something to help, he saw one of the older dragons doing something like congratulating Rei as he walked away, seemingly uncaring Tiru’s situation). He had clearly seen it, Kalin had seen him look in her eyes. She then also revealed that he had told her to stand there and wait for him(this, unbeknownst to Kalin, was a huge misunderstanding. Rei had been trying to find help for Tiru after seeing that something fell on her. The older dragon was actually comforting Rei and trying to keep him calm as they waited found help for her(of which cam too late, Tiru suffocating from the smoke and being crushed and all). Upon hearing this, Kalin’s blood ran cold, he had been betrayed. He lost his kindness and ability to trust, his heart harboring a hate for Rei ever since then.
Kalin tried with everything he had to get her out. He shoved against the boulder, but his low strength meant he wasn’t very effective in his attempts. Tiru accepted she was going to probably die there, telling him to listen closely. She told him not to blame himself for her death, and to take the turquoise amulet to remember their friendship.
He took it, but still tried unsuccessfully to get her out. She kept telling him to run, to get out of there, but he wouldn’t listen. He refused to leave her behind, his stubbornness distracting him from the situation around him so much that he didn’t even realize until too late that something was falling on him. He was knocked out cold.
When he woke up, he was in some sort of hospital, which he later found to be the Ruby Hospital. He had been found in a bad condition by an alliance member, who took him there to recover. He explored the place he had been taken, eventually finding a dragon to interact with. He was told that no dragon had been brought with him, and that all they could find of his was a turquoise amulet.
He remembered Tiru and nearly broke down, the sadness that she really was gone fresh in his mind. He listened to the staff describe the Alliance, and he decided he wanted to join. He wanted, no, needed, to become stronger. So that he could protect himself, because no one else was there for him. So he wouldn’t be betrayed again. He took the time to recover that he needed for a couple weeks, before setting off on a journey to the Isle Mezzo. He found a mentor and began training for the next couple of years.

Adult > WARNING: SLIGHTLY DETAILED GORE AND MURDER

After being recruited to the Alliance, and serving his two years of training, Kalin quickly began work as an Alliance member, sorted into the Order of the Shield. He went on all sorts of missions with other Alliance members, from solving arguments to finding murderers. However, on one mission, his team seemed to see things differently than he did. They were trying to track down a thief, a particularly clever older dragonet who had stolen things from multiple shops and civilians. They finally caught up to him, but just as they were going to arrest him, Kalin saw something in his bag of stolen goods he recognized. The little bastard had stolen the most valuable thing in the world to him, the turquoise pendant that Tiru had given him before he was forced to flee the village.
In an act of rage, despite all the training and control the Alliance had taught him, he leapt at the thief, knocking him over and staring deep into his eyes with rage. He thought of the best way to kill this young dragonet painfully, slowly, agonizingly. He dug his claws into the thief’s chest, drawing blood and worrying the other Alliance members, as the thief was only a dragonet, who probably didn't know any better. They tried to drag him off the dragonet, but while they did, he used the dragonet as his ground to dig into with his claws while trying not to move. The dragonet was visibly in a lot of pain, and it made Kalin so, so, so happy. He was laughing hysterically at this point, enjoying the thief’s pain so much that he couldn’t control his laughing.
Though, he knew that the thief’s pain was not enough for him to be satisfied. There were five other dragons on the team taken to find and capture the thief, purely because of how much they would have to sort and distribute. So Kalin, knowing the consequences, decided to use his fire. He aimed carefully so he didn’t waste any shots, and fired at the dragons holding him back, along with the other three going for the thief who was running. The jumped onto the thief and knocked him over once again, this time wasting no time as he readied his fire. He looked into those scared eyes of the thief’s, enjoying his pain so much… and shot a fireball to the face. It was followed by a blast to the neck, and then a claw slash to the throat.
By now, all five Alliance members who had come on the mission were focused solely on restraining Kalin, as he was a danger to everyone. Having used his fire seven times respectively, he didn’t have a lot of fight left in him. But he didn’t need to fight back, having accomplished his mission of making the dragon who wronged him feel immense pain. He was laughing hysterically, or at least showing the physical reflex for it, along with the scales on his face which glow when he laughs glowing, yet no sound came out of him. This was because his vocal chords had been touched by fire too much at that moment, he had used a lot more than he would have normally.
He wasn’t paying attention to the other Alliance dragons at this point, he was watching the thief silently bleed out. The world around him was becoming fuzzy, he was finally starting to feel the immense pain in his throat. He saw one of the Alliance dragons look at him in some sort of angry, scolding way that seemed to show hate for Kalin. Yet he didn’t have time to see, hear, or think of anything else, as the world went black, two minutes having passed since he used his seventh shot and going unconscious.
When he woke up again, weeks later, he was in the hospital wing of the Alliance-University building. It took him a moment to remember what happened, and then he felt the horrible pain in his throat. He couldn’t move his head whatsoever, so he looked at what he could see of the room with his eyes. It seemed to be a private room of the hospital wing, with the bed he was on being the only one in the room. He was too weak to even control his glowscales, so he felt very vulnerable. He couldn’t communicate whatsoever because he pushed himself too close to his limits weeks ago.
A staff member of the hospital wing came in for what was probably a daily checkup to make sure he was still alive, and realized he was awake. They immediately left, seeming to be going to get another dragon. And that was the right assumption, as the staff member came back with none other than Spinx. At this point, he knew something bad was going to happen.
Spinx made sure the door was shut and that the medical staff member was the only other dragon in the room. Then, she went on and on to Kalin about how he had put the Alliance’s reputation at risk, along with murdering a dragon who hadn’t been tried. She was practically screaming at Kalin not just what he had done wrong, but criticizing almost every part of him(this isn’t exactly how Spinx believed the situation was going, but it is what Kalin felt like was happening).
After trying to calm down for a moment, Spinx said the thing that would affect Kalin forever. That he was being removed from the Alliance for what he did. How at his current age and mentality, he was not fit for the Alliance. Spinx told Kalin he could stay within the hospital wing as long as he needed to recover, but that after that he had to leave. He would be allowed to remain on Mezzo, but could not cause or partake in any sort of illegal activity, or he would have to leave Mezzo.
After this, Spinx left, along with the medical staff after finishing the checkups. Kalin felt horrible, he was angry, sad, just too full of emotions he wasn’t used to handling. Once he had fully recovered, he began his life as a normal civilian, trying to grow himself as a dragon. He wants to one day try once more to enter the Alliance, but knows he’ll have to wait a long while before he can reclaim the life he once had.
That brings us to the present day, where Kalin works on-off as someone who embeds jewels in other dragon’s scales. He still laughs at almost everything, he truly finds most of it funny, but he is often also found thinking about the things he hates. Because hate is embedded deep within him, and it’s not going away any time soon. And thus why any other dragon’s suffering became one of those things to laugh at.

Note of clarification: Kalin was recruited as a trainee at age 10, spending about two years training. Then, he spent ~2.5 years in the Alliance as a Shieldite before being kicked out at age 14.5
