Our poor birdie passed away this morning ;_;
She was laying eggs (as usual...) but one day she was acting weird, she got better but once in awhile shook her head funny. When we discovered her, we checked her body to see what happened and she was egg bound (meaning one of the eggs broke in her) and thats what killed her. I miss her so much, her personality was one of a kind. She would try different kinds of food the other birds wouldn't touch *like fruit, and chips* and she would play with things......

I miss her ;_;

She's so FLOOFY!!!

I had a real smart budgie named Sammi. He mimicked so many words and sounds, and not to mention he was extremely playful. I had him for two years, but then he contracted a virus and passed on. I know your pain.

Are they fertile? Either way you should feed her crushed up egg shell, that will help keep the calcium so that her bones are strong and so are her eggs.

Yes, they're fertile. Her name is Pip, and her mate's name is Squeak. They both mated and Pip's laying eggs.

I once had a parakeet a few years ago, and he died from a bird flu that he caught from another parakeet that we got for him. The one we got for him died a week later after we got her.

Actually, they were all unfertilized... ^^' She just layed her 8th one about 2 days ago... I don't think it's fertilized either. I candled them all, and non of them had any babies in them. I even asked the man who works at the pet shop about it, and he said that they didn't have any babies in them.

Oh, what a nice memorial you did for your lovely bird, and a great way to remember her. Thanks for sharing her with us. Horrible way for a bird to die, too.

I know what it's like to have a one of a kind parakeet, my Pudge died back in 2001. He had the greatest personality. He said everything and would just mumble nonsense while he was sleeping! I lost my cockatiel Screech back in December. I had him since 1999. I was a mess the next day at work. That night, l learned Vodka and Corona are a GREAT combination.

Yea...I have lost a few birds over my life (Thats all I've had my entire life until now) I usually am depressed for about a week or so then slowly start to feel better I don't drink so I wouldnt know lol

aww. Yea, she was a sweetie. After she died I didnt want anymore birds, but a few months ago my hubby came home with two baby mockingbirds lol. My mom is taking care of them for me right now while Im busy
