She certainly knows how to Lemonade! If anyone can take on the iconic style from Beyoncé’s Hold Up music video, it’s Monique. Given Monique’s fierce attitude and sense of style, its not hard to imagine she’d be a major fan of “Queen Bey."
Monique’s dress is very similar to Beyoncé's in the video but I did take a few minor liberties with the final look. The background was particularly fun. I wanted it to feel like Monique was in the music video but with some KP background art style crossover to it.
Cards on the table, I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a member of the “Beyhive”, but I do appreciate Beyonce’s work. There’s a lot of amazing symbolism at play in her Lemonade album and I can really dig the cultural ode and backdrop that is New Orleans.
All cards on the table, the initial “lightbulb” moment credit for this goes to Titus Andromedon - star on the rise . Tituss Burgess sang a pretty hilarious, well received parody nod to Beyonce’s album in the most recent season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I happened to be binge watching Kim Possible and Unbreakable the last few weeks. While giving a mental slow clap for Tituss and the show’s writers, it dawned on me that there was only one other person who could possibly look epic and pull off the look… Monique!
And let’s face it, giving Monique some Deviation love on my part is way overdue. In the words of Marvel, "Monique Will Return."
