Description
The German battleship Bismarck, drawn in MS Paint. She is depicted here as she may have looked at the start of her first and only sortie (Operation Rheinübung). Originally the black and white stripes on her hull were carried up her superstructure during her sea trials in the Baltic, but these were painted over in a uniform grey color before Bismarck left Occupied Poland in the early morning hours of May 19, 1941. The rest of the camouflage remained on the battleship until her short stay in Norway on May 21.

Upon leaving Norway, The stripes on the hull were also painted over, as were the darker grey panels at both the bow and stern (these were intended to "shorten" the ship's appearance at long range). Also covered up was the white "false wave" at the stern and the swastikas that adorned the decks fore and aft (used as aerial recognition symbols). The false wave painted on the bow was left on for the rest of Bismarck's short life.
