Description Well, I too have jumped on the train started by DarkJak ([link] ) and used his template to provide a list of what I consider the top 10 video games. Here's the breakdown:

- Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game for taking the series down a darker, more emotional path rather than the standard pattern the games follow.

- SOTC is a pinnacle of minimalist gaming; telling a moving story with few elements but making those present (mainly the fights against the colossi) engaging and intense.

- Psychonauts is just pure fun, a wonderfully bizarre piece from master Tim Schafer

- Thousand Year Door, Sly 2, DAH 2, and Banjo-Tooie all successfully expanded on the groundwork set by their predecessors to create greater experiences.

- Okami has a common gameplay style, but the story, visuals, and characters elevate it to a higher level.

- Mass Effect was a sci-fi masterpiece. A gripping story and memorable characters highlighted one of the best RPGs ever. Bioware set a new standard of excellence with this game.

- Big fan of Douglas Adams, and the point-and-click adventure he created perfectly reflects his inimitable sense of humor.

Quite a few had to make the cut, and I was considering posting this twice for a top 20 instead, but I didn't want to cheat. So instead I will list them here just for completion's sake

- Earthbound
- Grim Fandango
- Beyond Good and Evil
- Sonic and Knuckles
- Sam and Max Save the World
- Twilight Princess
- Portal
- Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
- Bioshock
- Donkey Kong Country 3

I feel so out of it... the only games I ever really played were Spyro, Rayman, Earthworm Jim, Crash Team Racing and some Zelda. Zelda actually struck me as 'meh' compared to the first three...

Out of curiousity, did you ever play Myst? I tried, once. I managed to get past the first two levels without knowing exactly how I did it, then was stuck there for eternity.

Well, everyone has their own tastes, and not everyone gets into Zelda. I really did love Earthworm Jim as a kid, but it just hasn't aged well for me (I still love the animated series, though). Never tried Spyro, Crash or Rayman, and the Rayman franchise has put me off with its constant focus on the Rabbids.

I did play Myst, and thought it was good at the time, but again it hasn't really aged well. (I f**king HATE the Selenic Age). Truthfully I thought the third game in the series, Exile, was the best of them.
