The water looks beautiful in this, and I love the energy of the photo itself. Great work!

Sehr gute Arbeit!

Wow. Makes you stop and look twice. The colours are great, and the scarf is fantastic. It's as if the sun is peeking over the silhouette's arm, wanting in on the fun, too.

I noticed you do alot of work that is dependent on lighting, which is cool because it's something that can be mastered and a good base for experimentation. I don't have any valid critique, except that I'm not into this kind of art but for people who are, I think most would agree you did a good job here.

Very cool silhouette; I'm not sure about the pose of the person. The idea with the scarf is really neat, though. =]

As a belated addition, I think it may be that the color and contrast is lost some in the zoom-in. However, the motion and energy of the piece is quite nicely captured.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

philippstein In reply to nycterent [2008-10-13 00:56:59 +0000 UTC]

(Thanks again, so much! As another edit reacting to your helpful critique I extended the actual cropping of the picture so that the effects of the zoom-in are less negative...maybe it's better now.)

nycterent In reply to philippstein [2008-10-13 00:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes. I think it is an improvement. A subtle one, but it makes a positive difference.

nycterent [2008-10-13 00:45:06 +0000 UTC]

Small view and thumb, this is breathtakingly amazing. However, on a full view, the sun is distracting, the sun rays a little too much and the overall color scheme - well, it doesn't quite work for me.

I can see the smaller version as a background on my computer. The full-view? No.

philippstein In reply to nycterent [2008-10-13 00:52:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for your thought-out comment
Even though I'm quite happy with this shot, its color scheme is indeed something I'm also unsure about.... In order to improve it a bit, I have now reduced the saturation of the lower sky, but I guess it's not really better...any suggestions maybe? Or shall I just leave it be?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

nycterent In reply to philippstein [2008-10-13 01:00:40 +0000 UTC]

I wish I could give you a suggestion, but I believe that until you have the photograph on the table/screen in front of you in an editing program, you won't be able to know the overall effect of a change. And even then, it might take a while to figure out whether it was an improvement. (This is a rather pansy way of trying to avoid the fact that I'm just not that well versed in photography. ;] )
