Have you noticed that whoever comes in contact with a Death Note mentally snaps some time or another? It's happened with Light, Mikami, Misa was crazy already anyway...Well, it's not applicable to everyone, but don't you think if a Death Note drops into earth, some person would go crazy?
So what happens after Near proves Light is Kira..?

Hmm... Yes, that makes some sense. This is my creepy theory I have:
Once you touch the death note your 'muderous' side comes out and calls itself Kira. Now this side (using the owners inteligence level) Comes up with a reason to kill in lights case, to rid the world of evil. This causes the true self of the owner to fade away and be over took by the 'Kira side'. So in saying maybe Light wasn't truly evil maybe he just lost control. I love that rule though, very nice work.
