Never been a big fan of Dark Angels, but you did this one pretty well, good proportions, bitching fucking robes and battle scars details, and a good poses. Now in my personal opinion, you could have increase the lenght of the sword, she look a bit tiny for an astartes, but I could be wrong.

Didn't know that commanders got biggest sword than there battle brothers, I mean I never heard of a 2 handed space marine sword in the 40k universe. But I understand the principe of the shortsword, it's not a bad idea.

There are generally two kinds of SM two-handed swords. The Storm Wardens (who are inspired by Scotsmen) have Power Claymores.
Relic Blades can also be two-handed blades.

I based the sword-length/status thing on the fact that various DA commanders have had a big sword. The Dark Vengeance box set has the commander I was thinking of (the winged helmet character).

Extremely nice work! The boots look a little strange but I really like how you've nailed the Marine's proportions. Some artwork of Marines can look absolutely ridiculous - this one looks reasonable while still maintaining its distinct silhouette and bulk, as well as the kickass robes-over-armour dealio that the Dark Angels have going on.
Nice stuff.

Thanks Rarmus! The boots are a little sunken into the snow, but otherwise my approach was to play down the cloddy bubble-boots you can find in other illustrations. I keep the hands, feet and head understated in many ways to give scale to the rest of the armour, perhaps working a bit more realistic human scaling rather than the miniature's proportions.

Oooooh, that was such a subtle detail it completely crossed my mind. I had no idea he was even standing on snow! Still, I do like your approach with their proportions.
