Don't ask why this idea came into my head. My sister and I were playing old school Pokemon stadium (N64 forever), and while she was beating all six of my magikarp with her Electrode, I was like "Aw, wouldn't a Voltorb trying to be an Electrode be adorable?"
And so Surri arrived.

Surri is basically a beginning trainer who stumbled upon a Voltorb one day. Though, because of her shy and timid nature she never managed to train him to a very high level and instead became a companion more than a fighting buddy.

This made her the laughing stock of all her trainer friends, so she tried even harder to train her Voltorb. She tried everything from Thunderstones to adventuring around, though Torbi couldn't seem to evolve.
Fed up, Surri decided that she'd just have to fake it.
Surri drew on an Electrode face on the under side of Torbi, and they would together impress her trainer friends.
While everyone was happy to see Surri finally have an evolved pokemon (even though it was three times smaller than it should be), Surri felt worse and worse for lying. She finally decided that if the world couldn't except that her voltorb wasn't going to evolve, then they would just have to deal.
Surri now happily travels the region of Kanto with her very strong Voltorb, and both don't mind a bit that he isn't ready to evolve yet.

Sappy story, but fun to think up.

Wow, I've never really draw pokemon or trainers, but it was fun. I just love Surri's hair (the colour was totally random...) She's obviously not finished though, hence the white skin/boots. I don't think I'll be working on it any more, though.

p.s. I don't know how that Electrode face was convincing... xD
