Did you end up reaching a concensus on which tail's deadlier? I'm admittedly curious if it's the same thinking I have about which is

Well, we think both have similar cutting power: Both can behead a human with a single stroke. Both have been seen to carve straight through large and/or heavily armored creatures with minimal trouble. The andalite has the edge in speed, since they have a tendency to act before the eye can see, but I think the xeno has greater reach. So it's kind of a lateral move.

Hm, those're good points yeah. I had thought a xenomorph tail was more for piercing than slicing so I figured Andalite's would easily win out. Like, I know that even if that were the case a pierce is still pretty deadly, but I think what might've tripped me up is I was thinking it was only sharp at the tip and first like, centimeter or so down whereas Andalite's it'd be sharp along the entirety. After looking xenomorph's up though I see that I was mistaken (I've not seen one in a while ><).

I think that it'd maybe come down to reflexes or agility or such, and perception then? Cause like you said a Xeno likely has bigger reach (especially higher-ups like praetotians or queen afaik), and that plus if they could get the drop on an andalite (since they can be pretty stealthy and whatnot) would mean they could get in a strike before the andalite could retaliate. But if the andalite were perceptive enough to pick up on sneak attack attempts they likely could slice off/deflect the xeno tail before it hit em given the speed advantage. It's been a while since I read animorphs books so I forget if any of em fave clues to andalite perception or not. I mean visually yeah, they definitely are good on that front what with four eyes (two of which are on stalks and have more freedom of movement), and probably a pretty good sense of smell too, but I'm not sure if either of those would be helpful anyway in this case. It'd probably be more based on the strength of their hearing and... Maybe electric-reception if xenos even have an electromagnetic field to pick up on?

Well, overall, a xenomorph is a better fighter than an andalite because they're built for it. They can fall back on their claws, their proboscis, their heavily armored skin and their wallcrawling ability.

An andalite with the proper armaments though, with morphing abilities and a shredder, OTOH, would be much more effective. In a lot of ways, they're like humans just with one single, highly effective natural weapon.

You make a pretty convincing point tbh. I'd personally kinda figured Andalites would win out, but with what you said, now I'm pretty sure it'd be otherwise and they'd lose. Or, one without any sort of like, equipment would anyway.

Given what we've seen, I wouldn't be shocked to learn that a hork bajir host could survive being chestbursted.
