Description Jack Frost - Under the Moonlight

I think I died doing this. An older Jack Frost This is a slightly darker Jack Frost but in a different mood. ._.

Of black moon of the blind eyes...

I am not that good with drawing fanart. Hopefully it looks similar to Jack Frost. ._.

Thank you so very much for the critique!

I was really nervous with the water colouring. I had it slightly blurred and without so much colours in the previous stages and was thinking of keeping it that way. But the more time I spent on it (and more time I left it to wait for thinking) the more I felt that part needed some work. I hope to continue more with developing that aspect. Water environments are new to me as other things go.
Hah! I am very glad someone found out the two tooth in there. I was hoping it wouldn't be too invasive like how often it happens with the tooth being more prominent and looking awkward. But I was wondering if leaving it dark coloured without any resemblance of tooth would be a bad thing or not.

Jack Frost is a character from Dreamworks' 'Rise of the Guardians' animated film.

I will have to change that 'white line water edge. Sometimes when I place my hand or anything on water, I often see light reflect in that weird way in the edges. But you are right, it does look out of place. I will have to look into how it looks with light hitting in those instances.

Thanks once again for the critique!

Well, if he normally has just two tooth, its okay If not, then maybe a straight line to fine teeth would get the fangirls more awed I guess

I guess I will have to look into that reflection again in my own hands sometimes Never bothered to notice But when I am gaming, I do not see such white edges, so I guess they dont always exist Nice na? How the smallest things in life can be so big sometimes

Once again, nice work Carry on with this greatness

I love the way you've created the effect of the water overlapping his skin, and how you can make out his form underneath. Water can be difficult in general, let alone showing a person or object within it. I think you did wonderfully though, the water looks very cold, and very much a contrast to your very light and calm looking water from other pieces.

Thank you very much! At first I wanted to do it similar to the previous one, but wanted to experiment a bit more to see what other effects can be made.

I thought it was weird that he is wearing so many clothes while in water and felt that would be awkward.
But now that you mention it, I think I get a bit how it would be appealing. o__O Classical poses as suggesting aahahah

The water looks amazing! I love how you have the colour of it change when it's over the skin. The lighting looks great too, very eerie and pale. C:

To me, the face might be a little small compared to the head, but I'm not sure since it's a tricky angle.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phoenixleo In reply to Rovanna [2013-03-27 05:55:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. I had a slightly more greenish/blue on the skin area where there was water, but it felt really muted (which I liked but...)and wasn't what I wanted.

Yesss! That's what I was wondering as well. I tested this face both on me and my sister (well obviously not dipping it in water >_> ) by looking at the face straight on and then how it would look if it was tilted the way it is. I had a larger plane but realized it wouldn't be showing with that tilt and water defraction would cause some bending and the other part show a bit. I need to test different head movements more. I wonder if having a straight on face would change the mood or not. o_O

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rovanna In reply to phoenixleo [2013-03-27 06:17:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it would change the mood if he's looking at you, but not necessarily in a bad way. Now it looks like he's dreaming/thinking about something/given up. If he was looking right at you it would look more confrontational/accusing. Which could actually work really well as a contrast to the pose.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phoenixleo In reply to Rovanna [2013-03-29 06:02:44 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm. Yea, a confrontational mood would certainly work. I was reading up on Manet's Olympia and it would have a similar effect I suppose. I will keep that in mind if I do another in this series! Though, I will try and see if I can paint the eyes to look straight at the viewer while keeping the post like that and see how it feels.
Thank you very much for the awesome idea!
