As you can probably guess from my username, I love phoenixes, and have made Phoenix my nom de plume. Legend has it that phoenixes are reborn from their own ashes.The idea of rebirth is perfect for this time of year: new life, new beginnings...
I created this for beginner level of the "Wonderful Possibilities" contest at
First Contest of the New YearYeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaa!!!! We are finally going to have a contest!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance:
OK before I get started on the contest I want to announce our new contributors. :iconbarncatt: and :iconmissalmostperfect: I am sooooo very excited. Two of the most wonderful artists here on DA. PLEASE check out their wonderful galleries. They will be helping me on judging and critiques. :clap::clap::clap:
Our contest is going to be a little unusual in that it is open to your own interpretation.
The name of the contest is called "Wonderful Possibilities". Many of us have gone though a very rough year last year. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have so

I love the colors and the work you've done adding the plumes. I know you've already added some more shadows, but I think the lowest parts of the bird's body need some shadow as well. It's harder to say because there's no clearly defined light source.

I like the way you have chosen stock that compliments each other
The blue on the phoenix tail is picked up nicely with the blue in the models dress

OMGosh this is sooooo beautiful dear. i really love all the colors you have done on this. that bird is amazing.
couple of things i see that need to be tweaked. first off the wonderful plume at the top of the bird does not look like it is coming out of the top of it's head. it looks more like it is coming out of the side of the head. if you place the plume more to the middle of the head i think it will work better. second make sure you add some shadows under the bird where it is sitting on the hand. i would like to see some hair strands coming out of the models hair so it will not look like her hair is wet. gosh this is sooooooo beautiful. i really love it dear. you still have plenty of time to fix before the judging
