Description Falchion's Phoenixdex Entry

Falchion are more heavily focused on offense than their previous form, a fact reflected in their incredible strength (necessary to keep themselves off the ground given their size) and the wickedly sharp edges on their feathers. In fact, shed Falchion feathers were often collected by ancient warriors and fashioned into swords with very little modification, and all of the Falchion swords found so far have remained in excellent condition even after years of use followed by possibly millennia of neglect.

(Unfortunately, no, I don't have an evolution method yet. I still have a lot to figure out about the region before I can decide how I want that to work. For now I'll just quietly point out that this would theoretically make Eviolite Skarmory a thing and leave you with that pleasant thought.)

you could always invent a new move, or give it a pokemon to be in the party. maybe a sword looking one?

Something swordlike might be cool, yeah, especially if I could think of something else to do with it!

and maybe make falchion's breast plate just a little more shield like. not much, as it is fairly close already lol

I like the name and the description for this fakemon. Rather than have skarmory evolve into this how about making it a branched evolution. Have a common pre-evolution non-metal bird that evolves into falchion and skarmory + maybe another metal bird. Have the whole branch originate from the same area. Ether way I feel this design needs a bit more refinement and style. It feels too much like skarmory became fat XD. Ether way great creativity keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments! I drew this a while ago, really, and it could probably use some extra work; not going to be able to get to it for a while as I have other fakemon priorities, but this isn't the first time someone's mentioned it's a little too much like skarmory, so when I do get the chance I'll see what I can do.

I'm not terribly fond of prevos in general, though, so I never include any in my regions (aside from this one a long time ago that was more of a joke, anyway); think I'll stick to keeping it an evolution, or at least a counterpart single stage (...hm, that one's actually not a bad idea. I'll think on it).

Thank you for taking the time to say all that! More interesting and useful than the usual "oh yay cool!"

NP
I don't always comment, but when I do it is for a good reason or I leave a paragraph. XD
I get where your coming from when it comes to pre evolves. I am not a real fan of chibi stuff but it is sometimes good like with pichu.
However taking about the pre evolved for them and I was thinking that "Spearow" would actually be the pre-evolve! It was a curious thought as to how? Since spearow normally evolve to fearow it would have to be a forced environmental adaptation.
I was thinking that a place called the iron woods would exist and some spearow lost their original home and migrated. however due to the woods unique nature they were forced to adapt. As such from the woods having a extremely high metal content they branch evolved into metal birds AKA Skarmory, Falchion (Falchiron), and another one. Hence how these pokemon came to exist.

Just a pokemon history idea I had. Thx for commenting back.

Maybe Skarmory evolves into Falchion when leveled up in a certain place? Or if leveled up with a certain, previously unavailable item?

Those are the most likely options; problem is figuring out what those are, which I can't do until I know more about the region it's in. :/ Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Ho... He looks strong... and slow at the same time.

PS. Eviolite Skarm will be a great wall of China.

Maybe it evolves by being traded with a steel coat. It's been done before, but it makes sense. Also, it's nice to see a skarmory evo that makes sense

Problem with that, though, is what stops you from trading it with a metal coat in Gold or Silver? It wouldn't have worked then, so why now? Thanks for the suggestion, but if it does turn out to be item-based then I think it'll need to be something new. Preferably something that can evolve a few other pokémon as well to keep from introducing a ton of new one-off evolution items, but I need to do more work on the 'dex before I can know that.

And thanks! I have seen a lot of other cool skarmory evolutions, but obviously I'm partial to mine

Good point, and no problem
Maybe the item could be something like a feather, or a claw

with a sun stone?

phoenixsong In reply to KaptainKlump [2012-06-28 20:32:58 +0000 UTC]

Hm... it's an idea, but sun stone evos usually have something to do with plants or sunlight; skarmory and falchion don't really fit that, imo.

Also, I prefer not using evolution methods that already exist because it creates continuity problems. It's perfectly possible to get both a sun stone and a skarmory as early as GSC, but the stone wouldn't work on it then. Why would it suddenly work now? and so on.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

buy can skarmory be the 1st not grass pokemon evolves with a sunstone?

Amusing as that would be, I'd still rather not break continuity.
