Description For !

Name: Artturi

Nickname (at least one): Turi

Species: Human

Age: 27

Height/Weight: 5’9 (5’11 with shoes), 150-ish lbs

Gender: Cis Male

Reason for entering: Getting rid of some demons… literally.

Strengths:

  • Having had to compensate for his lack of hands for some time, Artturi is surprisingly flexible. He dodges fast and, in a pinch, can kick as high up as his head without injuring himself.

Abilities:

  • Knife proficiency

Although his animation powers are unusable, Artturi channels an ability from each of his patrons. The following powers require Artturi’s fresh blood to cast. His demons will only accept fresh blood, and he uses a vial system to measure out precisely the minimum of what they require. As a “prerequisite power”, he possesses very minor hemokinesis, which only works on himself, allowing him to draw out as much as he needs from an otherwise non-consequential wound As he generally has to make some sort of shape or symbol to cast, Artturi uses his tail to "paint" what is needed for each spell.

In a fight, Artturi can use the equivalent of 3 vials of blood before his judgement starts getting clouded. 5, he’s woozy and unable to run at 7. 10, and he’s liable to pass out. Blood takes 1 day to regen:

  • Ifrit Fire: Artturi can summon 4-foot walls of flame from wherever his blood is spilled. This doesn’t make him-- or his surroundings-- fireproof. Although the walls are visibly solid, they are only an inch or two wide and can be jumped through at a running or higher speed with no injury to the jumper. (Cost: 1 vial/5 feet, lasts ~30 minutes - ignition cooldown is 30 seconds)

  • Shadowstep: By creating a circle anywhere in shadows, Artturi can “teleport” through anywhere connected by the shade, up to 30 feet away. (Cost: 1 vial, 30 sec. cooldown)

  • Life-stealing kiss: Exactly what it sounds like. He can steal enough energy to heal small wounds or stabilize larger ones. He simply has to draw his patron’s symbol somewhere on his body to use this. Artturi doesn't like to use this one. (Cost: 1 vial, 30 sec. cooldown)

Weaknesses:

  • No hands! With his tail, he has roughly the equivalent of a finger and a thumb, but it can only lift a pound or two. Although dextrous, since he’s missing both wrist joints, things like carrying bulky objects, climbing for the most part, and grappling people are no-gos.

  • Artturi’s patrons are kinda jerks and refuse to wait for convenient times to attempt to commune with him. They speak in his head, much like an auditory hallucination.

  • Light sensitivity. Bright light will blind him.

  • Useful to his demons dead or alive, his patrons have no reason to protect his physical form from magical kickback. Artturi injures easier than most people his age.

  • That tail is thin and easy to sprain. Sprain it, and, since he uses it to cast, he can’t really do anything but run and kick.

Personality:

In one word, Artturi is utilitarian. Everything has a use. He is not, of course, without hypocrisy: being raised among artisans has left him a little more vain than he would like. Having been a warlock for quite some time, his decision-making process is more-or-less dominated by the four demons he calls patrons; power-hungry, vicious creatures constantly fighting over his soul.

Underneath all of that, though, one can almost make out the caring leader and artist he used to be.

History:

Turi's one of those people that was given a gift in life, only to have it cruelly taken away. Gifted at birth with a sigil in his palms and the ability to make anything he drew come to life with a drop of his blood, he brought a lot of wealth and prosperity to the small village he grew up in. That is, until a cult of mystics decided they wanted those hands for themselves. This wasn't their first rodeo, and they left the young teen to rot just outside of town. Unfortunately for them, he lived.

Now this is where a choice was presented to the young magician. Most people would try to make the best of the rest of their lives, maybe advocate for the persecution of the cult. Turi took matters into his own... hands. Knowing he couldn't do it by himself, he enlisted the help of local adventurers, but soon, he found this too wasn't enough. Having a strong background in magic, he began enlisting demons, desperate for power and souls, as his patrons. Without getting into too much detail here, taking a demon as a patron is a bad idea, and taking more than one...

He was aware of the decline of his mental state as it happened. Justice turned to revenge, and a respect for his friends turned into power mongering. One by one, his team left him, and now he's on his own, shouldering the burden of demons fighting over his soul, and still only quashing out the fringes of the cult that ruined his and many others' lives.

Likes: Painting, calm places (especially water), revenge/”justice”, his old friends (although that’s a bit of a sore spot)

Dislikes: His patrons, anything remotely resembling a cult, the mystics, getting told off about his mistakes/could-have-dones

Other: calculating...
