Description
A companion piece (ha) for my 10th Doctor portrait! I have some vague plans to continue this line to get everyone's favourite doctors in.This one is less specifically Elizabethan and more generically old-fashioned, on account of having been painted in the days immediately before Fan Expo.

Did you look at a photograph to paint this or just improvise?

I looked at three or four stills from various episodes to make a new and unique image (so that I wasn't copying any one picture too directly), but it was definitely heavily photo-referenced! I don't think I'd be able to get a good resemblance from pure improvisation, though I should maybe try sometime.
