Description
The lichen is a complex organism formed by a CHAMPION living in symbiosis with a green ALGAE or a cyanobacterium. Because of its symbiotic nature, the lichen cannot be included in a single kingdom. Lichens that live on bark or twigs are extremely vulnerable to AIR POLLUTION. There are approximately 15,000 species worldwide, of which some 2,500 are found in Canada.
