Description This species mainly attacks apple trees, but can also develop in a few other species of Rosaceae. Damage is generally not very visible on infested trees since the larvae develop under the bark. Sawdust can sometimes be observed at the bottom of the affected tree. Already weakened trees and young plants are more vulnerable to the damage that this species can cause, some individuals can even die following an attack by the apple gall borer.
