Description Yep, it's the best preserved example of a Wartime Castle in Japan. One of the few that survived WW2. The Americans were going to bomb Himeji but in the end they said "Let's not." Good thing for us Tourists.

Bluh bloo, they were doing construction when I went here. Most of the stuff was blocked off. I kinda thought Nijo castle was radder anyway :I

At least Himeji had some okay shopping.

This is really neat, indeed we are lucky. If it's all right with you, I might use this as a reference. I'm seeing a mountaintop, a dark sky and an over-sized full moon in it's future, assuming I ever find the motivation to get my pencil out.

Abso-total-utely. Go ahead and use it as a reference. I will also have more pictures from my trip to Japan up soon.

Interestingly enough, I always thought it was the Japanese Building Style that gave their feudal castles such an appearance, but now that you mention it looking like a mountain, I wonder if there's a little symbolism in it's design as well. Mountains are revered in Japan after all. (not to mention are found EVERYWHERE)

I have never made it out of the United States, not even to Mexico or Canada. At least I have deviantart so I can look at all the amazing places I've never been.

Canada's pretty, but the place I went to up there (Ontario) was out in the sticks with not a whole lot to do, unless you enjoy killing and eating innocent fish. And it's just some weird pet peeve of mine, when I've seen the animal die, I can't eat it. I was already underweight before I went on that trip, and it didn't do much good for me when I came back.

I don't think I've ever seen a food animal die. I do mourn roadkill though, unless it's a fresh looking deer and then I think, "yum, venison".

Probably the main draw of Canada for me is the rocks. I live in a sedimentary area and Canada has igneous and metamorphic zones. Though we have some cool fossils here, I suspect the rocks in Canada are much more colorful and shiny. ^_^
