i realize to some of my viewers, the house sparrow is regarded as somewhat of a pest . . . but i haven't met a bird yet that didn't have some quality to admire

Are you new to the RAW mode? That's all I use now. Seriously, try the free trial of lightroom, with RAW files it is so fun to experiment with all the different features.

I shoot only in RAW now, I like the going through all the little details. You should really give it a whirl, I think you would like it.

About the only bird I really don't like are pigeons... but I'm sure even they have some endearing quality.
