Description This is September Song's chimney. I really need to replace it. I will in April when the marina sales are on.
Held this up and photographed the neg against a bathroom light while the neg was wet. That's why it appears to have a gradient. The light is the darker bit in the centre.

Holga
Shanghai 120 @ 100

(If anyone has used this stuff. How the hell are you supposed to read grey numbers on a dark grey background through a red glass?
I just loaded my holga again, and turned it to exposure 3 before I saw anything. Had to rewind in pitch black, and load again.

Ilfosol 3 New and improved....apparently

Thanks, Mike. The neg just caught my eye with the water on, and I quite liked the gradient effect with the round bathroom light. All very cheap DIY photography.

I photographed the neg while it was wet against a bright light. That's why it has the gradient. Thank you for the fave.

I would prefer it to work with my negs the same way, without using Photoshop.

I used to do a lot of darkroom work, and would much rather not use photoshop if I can help it.

I don't know how to work with Photoshop.
This summer I took the wedding photo's for my daughters best friend.
And we decided to make a scrapbook with the photo's in it! Was
so much fun to do, just scissers and glue and all kinds of other stuff.
I know it looks so much more professional to make a 'scrapbook'
with photoshop, but for me it was a much nicer job to do it
the oldfashioned way!

I completely agree. It is much more satisfying to do things hands on. I get a great buzz out of developing my films.

Indeed! It's nice to do and more personal.
I only did 1 year in Kinder Garden, I preferred to learn to write and read when I was 5,
so maybe that the reason I still like to make things with my hands.

Interesting shot Nigel, took me a while to work out what it was, and I'm familiar to what a chimney looks like. It's sure in a sorry state, that cowl looks too low causing too much heat near the top there, btw, how many jubilee clips are holding that on? Chimneys not cheap either. Good luck.

photonig In reply to 999999999a [2010-02-24 23:06:47 +0000 UTC]

It can't be any taller, Ian, or I wouldn't be able to go under bridges. there is a liner inside. I replaced the liner and the outer rotted. I need to buy a stainless steel one, but they are a fortune. I will replace it soon. I have had to put the jubilee clips on because I bought a cooly hat, fitted it, and a storm came and ripped it out. I had to buy a new one, and couldn't afford to keep changing them. I could have drilled and tapped the chimney, but as you see........

I don't know, this whole self-developing thing in your case seems slightly suicidal to me?

I fitted a new liner to the chimney, then the outer rotted....... What can ya do? Why my developing suicidal? I think it is imaginary. I will shoot the negs again when dry. This was just a highlight against the bathroom light.

The round dark area is actually the light in my mum's bathroom. Gave me an instant gradient. I will re shoot when it is dry, and perhaps see what it looks like with all the frame exposed right.

I broke my thermometer,(I was seeing how hot 102 degrees was to develop colour film, and got it wrong. The thermometer exploded.) so guessed the temperature of the developer. It was a little overexposed.

It's obviously not as hot as I thought. My thermometer goes to 110 and exploded before I could pull it out the water. Hilarious. I am a walking disaster area.

photonig In reply to davincipoppalag [2010-02-24 21:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Numpty is a great word.

Colour film is developed at very high temperatures. Apart from that it is very much like black and white.
