lol Thanks a lot for the fave. I live on a narrowboat on the Leeds and Liverpool canal, so these chaps are constant companions. This was last years brood, we should soon be seeing this years ducklings, goslings and sygnets. Costs me a fortune to feed them!

Me and my good lady were on the same canal last October in a Silsden hire boat, we got up to and through Foulridge tunnel before heading back down to Bingley and then up again to Silsden.

Rained all week barring one sunny but very windy day .We found that feeding rice crispies to the swans is best as they are so amusing when they shovel them up at fantastic speed, they sound like water muffled machine guns while they do it.

lol. Bit north of me, that. I have only been through Foulridge once. We avoid going the Blackburn way unless on the way to Skipton. I am near the Wigan 21 flight at White Bear Marina. It is easier to head south, as once through the Wigan flight it is lock free cruising for days.

Don't try to kid me you aren't used to rain.

"Don't try to kid me you aren't used to rain."

Oh I'm used to it alright , just hate it when I'm on holiday on a boat lol.

4mph stood at the tiller on a soggy day doesn't quite ring my bell , now if I'd had a speedboat that might have livened things up a bit on the stretches between locks .

lol. I have lived a fairly hedonistic life, but love my 4mph plods between locks. I actually like locks... wierd. I don't tend to do too much cruising in soggy weather. That is the time to acquiant yourself with canalside drinking dens. Believe me, I lived in comfortable domesticity for the first 50 years of my life. I wouldn't live anywhere that wasn't comfortable in the extreme.

Thanks a lot for the feature, Sandy.
Your journal is a coincidence, too. When I had my heart surgery last year they took the vein from my leg, though. No one has asked me if I tried commiting suicide by slashing my calf, though.

Handie In reply to photonig [2009-06-30 06:11:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, I suppose the calf is a lot less........ suggestive than the wrist! I couldn't believe the size of the scar! it was probably almost 1/2 inch wide, and the whole length of his fore arm!

Is yours big like that too??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to Handie [2009-06-30 06:20:33 +0000 UTC]

Yes, mine is big, and so is my scar. It goes from my ankle bone to just above my knee, on the inside of my leg. It is quite faint now, even after only a year, but my chest scar, which is about 12inches long is still a bit red and rough. I'm not too happy with how it healed. What the hell! If I hadn't had it done, I wouldn't be here

Handie In reply to photonig [2009-07-01 01:31:10 +0000 UTC]

oh you naughty boy! I just KNEW you were gonna say something like that!!!

Yes, a scar is better than not being here at all!! It's also a reminder that you need to take care of yourself!!!
