The model's presence is just stunning ! Her gaze shoots at me through the screen...
I was surprised at myself: "why am I stopping at this picture?" At first, it looks like another amateur portrait, clumsy and boring, except I'm not bored, on the contrary -- I'm electrified ! I actually can't take my eyes off it... Why ?

First, let's see what made me mistake it for a cheap amateur shot : it is essentially the poor contrast. If I were you, I would play with curves until I get the same professional treatment you managed to achieve with your other photos of this same model. Though I'd be careful to keep the light as soft as it is now.

Then, perhaps, the longish depth-of-field, together with the low contrast, made me think of a cheap compact camera, or possibly a cell phone.

Now that that's out of the way, let's see what is so great about this picture that I'm still rambling about it ! Besides the model's beauty, purity and expression of course...

There's an overpowering sense of intimacy in this picture. The pillow, the camera angle, the natural focal length, the suggested nudity and that warm, intimate, bathing light all account for it. Her slightly messy hair scream intimacy too, and kinda tell a story...

However her perfect makeup reveals that maybe the shot isn't as candid as it seems... I can't be sure, and this is something I didn't notice at first. It takes watching the pic closer for a while, because that makeup is discrete enough not to be seen, while still certainly enhancing her gaze.

And... uh oh... wait a minute...

At first glance, the light seems to come from a common bedstand lamp, but... is it really that natural ? I'd say either it is reflected by the photographer's white shirt (or something of the sort), or there is a secondary light source, of the exact same temperature, lighting her face from below too.

So is this blind luck, controlled luck, or a professional (and very subtly balanced) lighting setup ?

Anyway, the subject's face is in the shadow, and the decors gets more light than the subject... And yet, her face, and especially her eyes, seem to be the focal point from which this picture shines as a real lighthouse ! That too is much disconcerting.

In fine, even the long DOF serves the picture: dispensing with photographic artefacts such as artistic bokeh renders the scene more real, more intimate, and the emotion (whatever it is) more direct.

I'm surprised and puzzled by this pic.
Its impact surely deserves 6 stars out of 5 !

One can't help conjuring up stories about this picture...

I can't help but imagining myself in the story, and my computer screen becomes a puzzling and frustrating barrier from the reality behind that triggers a kind of nostalgia... but that's just me.

As for technique... I honestly don't know how to rate it. Either this is an amateur shot that got incredibly lucky, or this is professional work doing a great job at passing for amateur... Not being able to download the pic in hi-rez (and no, sorry, although it is magnificent I won't buy it for this critique's sake) doesn't help here.

I really wouldn't know how to rate the technique: be it the actual shot or the develop treatment, I really can't tell the accidental from the intentional. To me it either deserves 0 or 5 stars, and I'm not qualified to decide which. So I'll give it a bit more than the median, because the more I look at it, the less accidental it seems -- even though I can't pinpoint why.

Either way: it feels incredibly natural. Almost more natural than real life. Still can't take my eyes away from it --

Now this, this is an interesting photograph! Browsing through devart I come across hundreds and hundreds of portrait photos, and most of them have one horrible thing in common: the bleak, empty and uninteresting facial expression of the model. Perhaps it's the times we live in, when young women simply can't express anything more than a kind of thoughtless nostalgia, like all the "Lana Del Reys" of contemporary popular lifestyles...

NOT this on, though! The photographer did an amazing job here, proving that a great photo is determined mostly by timing. He managed to capture the model's pure, extremely genuine expression exactly in the right moment. There is so much behind those eyes and how the lips are shaped. Looking at it hard enough and long enough I started wounding, what exactly is this hope, longing, and great joy expressed in this picture. And this is exactly what makes the picture perfect and so different from all the generic photos out there: it made me think what's behind the photograph. Im my opinion, a portrait photograph must be something more than just a snapshot of a face. It must make the viewer realize that it's a real, breathing person in the photograph, and it must give us some kind of insight into that person. The photographer did exactly that with this portrait. It's needless to add, that the composition of flawless and the post processing subtle enough to do its job without being overshadowing or obvious.

Bravo.

I'm not a really awesome photographer, or someone who takes photos.

But here's what a typical average person thinks:

I really love the way the lighting is put. It brings out some tranquility and peace. The way the light shines above her and her pillow, it makes me feel really peaceful, like the way you wake up in the morning with the birds chirping and stuff.

I can't really say anything about the technique since I'm not really good at photography, but to me, your technique seems really good! (her position, perspective of camera, resolution, etc.)

I think it would be more impactful, if her expression was more expressive, and gives out/portrays an aura. Certainly, it would leave an impact on me, but a small one.

I hope this helps!
PS.you can try looking at Stephan Vanfleteren's photography to help as well.

You are wrong. The most successful in this photo is model facial expression.

Yeah, I am probably 99% wrong most of the time. But voicing my opinion, I mean, it would leave a better impact, or impression for me, if there was more facial expression to it. Yes, I mean, the facial expression may have been the success of this picture, but maybe if her expression was more... idk, more expressive that gives out a distinct aura, it would be more successful and impactful. You could try doing that though. just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

There's a time or two, maybe more if you are lucky, in a photographers life when they can look at a photograph they created and, just stand, or sit, gazing in awe at a splendour of magnificance acheivement. No words are spoken, nor do they need to be so, as they are just lost in that glowing feeling that is coursing through their bodies. This utterly stunning composition is one of those times for you, Pavel. All the ingredients come together to work so fantastically; the tousled hair, the beautiful shaped lips, with just the right amount of open width to give greater emphasis to the gorgeous large eyes, that radiate a look of slight suprise but, also just the hint of an amused personal thought. Even the slightly ruffled pillow ammounts to a wonderful backdrop frame, thus giving more impact to your stunning model. All of which is finally complemented by wonderfully soft shadow and light.
One of the most wonderful photographs I have seen in my life, Pavel! This is a very terrific photo you have taken here! I actually thought this was a painting for a moment until I saw what category you put this under. The picture you have given us could tell many stories just about this one single second you have captured here. To me this gives a sort of mystery that leaves me in many questions. I like how you have captured the light and dark contrast here. The shades and colors in this picture go perfectly together giving the perfect analogous balance I like to see! I really can not think of anything to say about the flaws in this picture because really, I can not find one to say about it. I might say brighten the lips up a touch, however just a tad. I think this is a very beautiful picture you have captured here and I hope to see more like this from you in the future!

I highlight the pronounced soft angles of her jaw, chin, lips and nose. Those are very feminine features I believe. The eyelashes in the right eye (from her perspective) make me suppose the picture was taken without too many preparations from her part, like a casual selfie (warm context). The eyes express too much shock to be confortable of watching as something erotic or suggestive, but the idea of her body naked and laying in some sort of bed counteracts that.
