this was my very first ps1 game. i used to go to this grocery store where they let kids play it while the adults shopped. I used to go there alone, just to stand there for hours playing this, until i finally got it myself

according to science, a ring flying at its velocity and height will be stopped by its surface area reacting with the air and gravity causing wind reduction, making it so the ring actually does not fly at a velocity fast enough to get embedded into the ground. also, science states that the depth that the ring is at is not enough to require that much force to be pulled out.

actually, lunatea's veil added another axis to create puzzles both in the foreground and background, enabling for much more variety in the puzzles. i guess it is up to the person solving the puzzles
